Here's some criticism, based on previous efforts followed by his good game on Friday night:

1) How about when players act/play like they are disinterested, with half-hearted efforts ie clearly not their best?
Criticism of that is completely justified (eg the annoyed, late free kicks given away by Fogarty when he is caught behind his opponent, yet again).

2) This is where I am at. Happy to see EH play like a real footballer, but "far from convinced".
His one-step, 50m goal in the last was straight out of Tex's playbook and you gotta wonder where that kind of talent has been hiding in the previous 29 games.
Is he coming good? We'll see. I hope so, but most of his games have been worthy of criticism.

Hinge!

That turn between two oppo players to send that raker to the forward flank. 🤩
Yes!
At first, I thought that the turn-and-bullet-kick was Dawson, because it looked so good.

Hinge and Dawson work well together, smooth movers, intelligent footballers and both have beautiful left-foot kicks. Let's set up a Cloud Fund and pay both of them to teach Keays (and others) how to kick like that...? :sneaky:

I've watch a lot of footy buddy over my time, some of the things I see I don't expect you to understand.
Himmelberg is a quality forward and more talented than Tilly, but lacks belief and confidence. If the coaches can instil that into him could be anything.
Having said that, Tilly is the better ruck. Play him as the no 1 ruck in the SANFL this year and bring him into the senior side next season.
So, buddy ... I assume that you wanted our quality, talented young forward in the team for this game?

Or could it be that you trying to re-write history again:

Rewatched the game. You have to drop Tilly and Himmles, they were like donkeys out there, absolutely disgraceful performance by both. Pitiful Pitman like the both of them.

Nobody with a functioning brain is buying this narrative that Port fans are happy with this loss.

Enjoy the rest of the year. You'll end up mid-table with a shit draft pick and your list even more geriatric than it is right now.
ET is an ok poster, certainly one of the more reasonable fans on here

Just watching the replay. Second half of the first quarter the umpires completely team us. Multiple in the backs to the power for good tackles that power players then throw themselves flat on the ground and crows player lies on their back.

Same thing happens in the last five minutes of the first quarter to us - play on.
The free against Rachele (in the back) who tackled the powaa player to the ground was ridiculous. How is he not meant to be on his back when he was wrapping him up on the ground? They seem to be targetting him. The 50 where he ran through Boak's space was also ridiculous as Boak had already executed his kick and surely this was play on. I saw this on numerous occasions over the weekend by other teams with no 50. I felt they tried their best to get powaa over the line.

This, just after the amazingly clean pick up by Frampton, 🤩 …shit kick, 😂 …but another beautifully clean pick up by Hinge.

The planets certainly aligned.
Don't think it was a shit kick by Billy, he wanted to get the ball in Hinge's hands as he's the better kick.

It very nearly didn't hit Hinge.

Lucky Hinge was able to trap it and move quickly around 2 opponents closing in.

It all worked out in the end but it was a poor kick.

Similar to when Keays only just hits a target who has to dive for it which puts pressure on the next kick.

I wouldn't say it "very nearly didn't hit Hinge", it went straight to him but fell maybe half a metre short - maybe less. It wasn't a big deal for Hinge to gather it, it was pretty much a half volley and frankly I'd be disappointed if he hadn't gathered it cleanly.

So not a great kick, for sure, but not as poor / close to disaster as some might say.

Exactly how I saw it. :thumbsu:

So, on Ken vs the Port players for the last 2 minutes. I'm wary of the wrath of Sanders :) and he does have a point, but I'm not letting Ken off the hook.

Of course the players (should) train for such a situation, of course the players (esp the onfield leaders) should "click into gear" in that situation. A coach shouldn't have to do/say anything, but most coaches do. See the 4 coaches (Crows/Port/Carlton/Hawthorn) in that situation on the weekend - only one of them was sitting back and not on the phone.

It's IMO about "making sure" and not just sitting back and assuming the players will do the right thing. There was a stoppage on the wing, right next to the interchange area, with 30 secs to go. Within shouting distance, a runner didn't even have to go on to the ground.

Would it have made any difference? Maybe not, but to not even try?

And Ken's got form in this area. How many times do we see him on TV sitting in the box, no phone, no headset. I mean, I don't pretend to be able to tell an AFL coach what to do during the game, but IMO it's a terrible look to be the only coach who's not seen giving instructions during the game.

PS the Jones "HTB not paid" - was that the wing, as above, with 30 secs to go? IMO that was "no prior". Maybe in another situation an overzealous umpire might pay it, but it was quite legit to let it go.
