So, on Ken vs the Port players for the last 2 minutes. I'm wary of the wrath of Sanders :) and he does have a point, but I'm not letting Ken off the hook.

Of course the players (should) train for such a situation, of course the players (esp the onfield leaders) should "click into gear" in that situation. A coach shouldn't have to do/say anything, but most coaches do. See the 4 coaches (Crows/Port/Carlton/Hawthorn) in that situation on the weekend - only one of them was sitting back and not on the phone.

It's IMO about "making sure" and not just sitting back and assuming the players will do the right thing. There was a stoppage on the wing, right next to the interchange area, with 30 secs to go. Within shouting distance, a runner didn't even have to go on to the ground.

Would it have made any difference? Maybe not, but to not even try?

And Ken's got form in this area. How many times do we see him on TV sitting in the box, no phone, no headset. I mean, I don't pretend to be able to tell an AFL coach what to do during the game, but IMO it's a terrible look to be the only coach who's not seen giving instructions during the game.

PS the Jones "HTB not paid" - was that the wing, as above, with 30 secs to go? IMO that was "no prior". Maybe in another situation an overzealous umpire might pay it, but it was quite legit to let it go.

Look at the 4 coaches - 3 newbies and a guy that has been there for 10 years. It's on Ken, but not for what he did / didn't do on game day in the last few minutes.

On the PS, I completely agree. If that had been called HTB I would have popped another vein in me forehead!!!

Why are you wary of the wrath of Sanders?
This is the guy who still thinks Mitch McGovern was worth a top 5 pick. 🙂

I was expecting Billy to barrel the ball straight down the guts into the forward fifty, because he can actually hoof a ball. But no, a dinky little kick with what..15seconds left to play :mad:. I went off at him, but then Hinge...and the rest is history.

Billy's kick was meant to be.
It was very much the right choice, IMO. Hinge was well on his own, would be able to turn and hoof the ball even further. Maybe if Billy had known the exact time remaining he might have gone the Hail Mary, but, as you say, it was meant to be.

Are we certain that image of ken not on the phone is legit? Because he was on the boundary line before dawson took his kick. 25 sec of game time later.....

There was the break in play when Murphy was down. I think he went to the bench in that time.

I would have thought Ken giving coaching tips would make things worse

Strange that Port fans things think he should have been pulling the strings at the key moment but at the same time think he sucks and they should get rid of him

Oooh, the weekly AFLCA "who got what votes?" puzzle. I'll do it.. (reasoning at the end)

Gollant = 1+0
Keays = 2+0
Boak = 2+1
Himmelberg = 3+3
Marshall = 4+4
Dawson = 5+5 obvs

Boak = 3+0 or 2+1 (most likely 2+1; no way he doesn't get votes from both coaches, plus the remaining votes can't work if Boak gets a 3)
Himmelberg = 3+3 (if Boak was 2+1) or 4+2 - nope, has to be 3+3 because of Marshall/Dawson's votes

Brownlow votes will be interesting for this game, both coaches and the medal voters gave BOG to Dawson.

Rowey working overtime to defend Hinkley and rile up Port fans is elite trolling.
Contract looming over his head is creating unwanted noise in the media and throughout the club

If Port shows a unified vision and backs in the guy that rebuild them from a rabble to 1 kick from a GF, it can reunify the locker room

Port should come out and hand him a 3 year contract.

All the Crocmedia media stooges are talking up Ken.

Kano
Rowey
Even Josh Jenkins.

No doubt Jam TV CEO (Crocmedia partner) CEO and Port Board Member Cos Cardone has been on the phones over the weekend.....

Funny. The coaches didn’t think he was in the best 4 Collingwood players on the day:

Collingwood v Geelong

3 Isaac Quaynor (COLL)
3 Taylor Adams (COLL)
2 Tom Stewart (GEEL)
2 Jordan De Goey (COLL)
