Miers back to the VFL too, was hardly spotted tonight and can take Fogarty with him. This is what happens when you fu** around with a settled team, Parfitt had a bye 2 weeks ago, why does he need a rest?

Miers was a bit fumbly, but otherwise not an uncharacteristic game for him by any means. Not a high possession player, just needed to take the chances he does get. We don't have anyone else that would be more reliable at taking them anyway.

Sorry to say/write it but Mitch Duncan, normally reliable, has been “off” for the past few weeks . Not sure what’s happened but just not delivering by hand or foot & making some puzzling decisions/errors. Probably not the difference tonight but troubling.

Not quite Mick McGuane(sp) back in the day, but something is definitely not quite right there.

Normally sublime by foot, missed (how many?) targets tonight?

Must admit, I thought the game was to be played under the roof at Docklands, rather than at some windswept, rainy place with some training lights on...(at least, you'd think it was somewhere else, given the kicking for goal...and the kicking generally, TBH.

Whole season. Its been a whole season issue. Of the 10 worst turnovers by a geelong player this year duncan probably has atleast 5 of them.

If beaten in the contested possessions, its always gonna be a tough challenge.

I don't mind mid-season losses, I back us coming home at the back end of the year.

The balanced and reasonable reaction would surely be to acknowledge our structures have fallen down since the bye.
Why is highly speculative and subjective but otherwise I think it's pretty obvious WHY our form has dropped.

I think our best is when our structures are right. They aren't right now.

We are seemingly picking too many players for one position or one area I.e defence, instead of picking our best side.

Can people please stop saying the doggies played very good, they were absolutely disgusting tonight as well. The difference in the end, was they lifted in the last and we wilted, otherwise was a shocking game of footy from both sides.

id back most teams kicking 7.13 to not really be in most games.

20 scoring shots ...

22 , 26 , 29 , 20 , 25 , 29 , 21 , 24 , 28 , 26 , 20 , 24 , 16 , 26 , 20 .... Our season says keep our scoring shots in that range and we struggle ... 20 v sydney but plenty to say that they really nullified us.

You can rarely win having 20 shots and only 7 out 20 successful conversion

Thought that v Port but little bit more to this, 2 losses in 3. Midfield getting absolutely smashed. Side is out of balance at the moment, need some more ball winners in side. It is being left to too few in midfield.

Menegola, Parfitt and one of Scott Selwood or Constable for Fog, Atkins and O’Connor, things looks a bit better.

Almost identical to the gws game. Dominate early and don’t take advantage of it, then get absolutely smashed in the contested for the rest of the game.

Midfield was comprehensively smashed too. If Danger isn't in there doing his things then the lack of inside depth gets shown up. All 3 losses were against teams with strong midfields and they were able to do as they please. I'm just glad we got our defensive mid in Guthrie to nullify the oppositions most dangerous player every week.

They mentioned repeatedly through the game that when Geelong lose the contested possession count, they lose the game, and so it proved tonight.

Full credit to the Dogs though. They bottled us up and forced us to kick down the line and halve the contest and kill us the other way. When we got the ball moving quickly we looked dangerous, but they didn't allow us to do it often enough.
