For us to be doing cartwheels, it all has to fall into place, I give it 2% chance of happening and needs to go like this:

1. Blues - Walsh
2. GC - Luko
3. GC - Rankine
4. Stk - M.King
5. PA - Rozee
6. GC - Caldwell
7. WB - B. King
8. Adel - Jones
9. GWS - Clark
10. PA - Hately
11. GWS - RCD/Butters
12. Geel - SMITH

WB are the biggest threat to grabbing smith, we can only hope they go for a King.

If the below article is anything to go by, our chances are even less than 2%

GWS should take Smith if he's there. We won't get him unless we trade for #9.

Twomey also mentioned that Bailey Smith could fall to Geelong at 12!

That'd be our Joel Selwood moment all over again.

In reality, I assume that won't happen and we will pick Jones (over RCD, Hately and other better prospects) and Jones will turn into Lang II.
How Twomey has any credibility at this point is truely beyond me, Smith slide to 12 lmfao now I have heard it all.

A bit about Geelong in the Age (via Brisbane Times)...

DRAFT NEEDS
The Cats took a hard-line approach with Tim Kelly, who remains in Geelong, meaning their draft hand isn’t as strong as it might have been. South Australian Jackson Hately hasn’t attracted the headlines of some of his flashier state teammates but the Central District midfielder is an exceptional character and looks a very good option at pick 12, which is likely to slip back by at least one but as many as three picks given bids for Nick Blakey, Isaac Quaynor and Tarryn Thomas. Chayce Jones, Riley Collier-Dawkins and Zak Butters are others tipped to fall in this range. Geelong have nominated Oscar Brownless as a father-son, with the wingman, whose maturity and good nature are striking, likely to follow in the footsteps of his father Bill when the Cats match a bid later in the draft. There was talk for much of the year that Geelong would look to bolster their ruck stocks during the off-season given the fluctuating form of Rhys Stanley and Ryan Abbott. Next generation academy player Blake Schlensog is a forward/ruck and might be an option late while Geelong VFL captain Tom Atkins is a chance to find a spot either as a rookie or late in proceedings. Geelong have remained bullish about their chances to be a premiership contender next year, and topped up with Luke Dahlhaus (Bulldogs) and Gary Rohan (Swans). However more than most clubs they need to nail this draft, or risk falling into a hole in coming years having gone hard for mature-age talent over the past four years. They identified their tall forward depth as an issue, leading to the acquisition of South Australian Nathan Kreuger in a trade with Carlton, who had priority access to the player as part of their mature-age player list concessions.

Think we need to be aggressive and trade up from 12. Next years 2nd plus 12 for 9 from GWS. Something like that.
I reckon we would have tried something similar already but teams aren't willing to let go of their picks. It was deadline for pre-draft pick trading today and I can't see anything happening on the night.

I'd do 12 + 2019 R2 for 9 but it only makes sense for us to do that if the players we like are at 9 so no point trading now.

For instance if Wells only wants to do that if Caldwell or Smith are available, it makes sense for us to wait until GWS's pick 9 on draft night, rather than risk it now and lose a future R2 for nothing in case these options are already gone and we end up taking the same player we ordinarily wouldve taken at 12.

Fair point.

He hopes Ablett is open to a move as a defender but won't spend a lot of time training as one. He'll be an onballer and probably train forward. :drunk:

Then goes on to say Taylor will play in defense which is the worst part of the story.
