Who amongst Fort, SS, Guthrie, Menegola, Hendo and 2e do you classify as leaders?

Scooter has been lauded for his leadership, conduct and selflessness around the teams' - especially at times when he's not part of our best 22

Not saying I'd extend his contract with the seniors, but I'd like to see the club offer him a VFL contract & assistant coaching role with the VFL team because he's the sort of player who can be valuable in the development of our younger players

Problem for us with Riccardi, Sokol and Hibbard is alot of clubs will be into the trio and they may go lot earlier then we expect, all depends on which club management team thinks that picks for young talent end and where more value in mature age recruits start....

I would be trying to get an immediate starter and impact player with a mature age pick.
You don't pick em to play VFL so in effect you're picking a player who's hopefully a potential game changer to the line up.

Sokol is the best fwd in WA atm although a medium at 23yr, 84 games, 186cm/86kg, he won the WAFL goalkicking for 2019.
Elite endurance and outstanding in the air he's dynamic off the ground and also physically a very tough body.
He's kicked 153 goals over the last 3 seasons with 60 this year (av 8.6marks) and was BOG in Subiaco's back to back flag win with an outstanding 6 goals.
Can play high fwd/midfield as he's an extremely aerobic runner with a big tank.
Would love Wells to take this guy to improve our goalkicking potential for season 2020.
2nd/3rd rd pick with his CV, like Kelly, Pickett but think Jordan DeGoey.

True....... I've been focused on our seniors side in the debate so far, but yeah, he'd be good in the background

So if we are eying off Jeremy Cameron as the Hawkins replacement, why don't we just offer the Giants the trade this year and forget free agency.

surely we are not still on that unicorn hunt ....

There would be several lists that would appeal more than ours imo... if he wanted to move.

I'd move on 2e, SS, Hendo, Guthrie, Menegola and Fort, whilst only playing Taylor, Ablett and Selwood for no more than 12 - 15 games each..... Assuming Taylor and Ablett play another year.

Menegola ...if the trade was right perhaps. He is a FA next year. If we bring in an FA..then we get zero for him.

I doubt that we move guys like 2e ..it would be admitting that we have missed the bus imo..

Taylor id send off with fireworks and many thanks . Ablett im very much on the fence.. come next year Id hope we can get games into someone or perhaps we recruit someoen who demands selction. 12 montgs ago.. we would not have thought our R1 pick would so quickly become best22. Probably depends on who we draft... is anyone really pressing for the spot in the VFL.good to see Tarca looked quick in the GF sprint.. we should be trying to do something with him. Conversely at least Ablett is a weapon not a shield. Atkins , Dahl etc.. you have to score to win games.

Fort has another 12 months to do something , start drinking some protien shakes or the angry pills etc.. cause if I had a chocie id be going hard at BKing ..which means Fort spot is underpump.

Henderson offer a contract.. and tell him flat out ..no Taylor no exscuses..but we also will have a young tall pushing a spot.

Guthrie is right in the zone of players we need .. 2wrunner.. and I know he is the dartboy but he was one of the better players 2nd half of the year. Having said that , if wanted to explore options , perhaps as a package.. id look at the right deal ..but only the right deal..no Caddy P24 etc..

SS coaching in the VFL.

Joel ..no change.

Lose Kelly, Ablett, Menegola and Guthrie - smells like a rebuild to me. I know it won’t happen, and not suggesting that you are promoting for all of that, but would make for a few interesting years ahead.

I doubt we're going to be a genuine contender next year, or for a year or two after that even, so time for us to suck it up I reckon.

We'll be better for it in a short time.

When the eventual decline happens it won't need to be self inflicted (the kind of decline that few clubs recover quickly form). Any young player worth a game will demand it no matter which experienced players fill up the 16-28th ranked spots in our list our MC tend to be generous in gifting early games to youth. I'm less pessimistic about our chances in the near future, we have a decent number of kids who have shown their worth. A decent number of established players who will have the opportunity to have non-injury interrupted pre-seasons. Outside midfielders. If Kelly stays great, if not then we'll get a few decent draft picks.

Guthrie I will repeat would have to be the right deal..very unlikely considering our needs.
Kelly we cant control
If Ablett going is a rebuild we really are a smoking mess
Menegola was fringe coming into finals ..id rather take a bit of pain..and see someone like Brownless in for a few games , hopefully Cockatoo

If we lose ALL at once then I think the impact would be pretty profound. Moot point anyway.

Hendo is just too slow now, and 2e turns it over way too much.

Hendo is too slow...

whilst only playing Taylor, Ablett and Selwood for no more than 12 - 15 games each

...but you're keeping Taylor around?

Fort and SS don't take the field anyway,

Only because the MC refuse to pick them. SS should have played instead of Parfitt, that was clear from the Sydney game where SS collected 20+ disposals, 6 tackles and a goal.

You say you're trying to add to the discussion, but your posts read like a bad attempt at trolling.

And who's that exactly? Kolo? Blicavs? O'Connor? Cause none of those names can play the role Hendo does in the backline.
In Turbo world... (lol) Blitz fb and doesnt move , we have kolo etc ..and we also play a fresh face like Krueger if we dont have someone else..but id hope to draft or recruit someone in. Names have been previous mentioned. Krueger must get game time in some position next year even if its down back when the opposition is tall.

Krueger is the one I'm most keen the see after another pre-season. Can play.

Kreuger was recruited to play forward, id be very surprised to see him in defence at AFL level. Kolo i dont think has to size to match up on the big forwards like Hendo and Taylor do. If we recruit someone they wont be a realistic AFL option for a few years as all talls take time to develop. Hendo is the stop gap tall defender option for the next 3-4 years post Taylor. He cant be taken off the list. But Blitz in defence is a must. He has thrived when given a clear role down there.

I resent that implication. Strongly. Don't repeat it.

I'll entertain you one more time.

Yes, Hendo is too slow, and as I clearly stated, I'd retain Taylor for limited games, and his leadership..... IF he wanted to go on.

Really? You’d be prepared to lose the lot in one hit and don’t think it would really effect our ladder position?
I think its highly unlikely ..so Moot but

Kelly will be like Karate Kid sweeping the knees..but what can we do? Guthrie would have to be an extremely good pick .Yes it would hurt a bit. Plenty on here just wanted him gone most of the year. Ablett.. well it all depends on who we bring in ..but really we have to move on... he is not 28

I think we'll keep one of Henderson or Taylor but not both

I would.

Yes, it'd probably knock us down a couple of positions, but we won't be contenders anyway, and we'd be far better placed in a year or two for doing so.

But they won't do it, hence a moot point.

I think Taylor is cooked. If Hendo goes around again he'll spend most of his time in the twos in my view.

Krueger is a KPP.. and where he gets games at the start may not be where he gets them long term. Lonergan was a drafted fwd. So was Mackie. It happens all the time. Finlayson at GWS for ex. We will know more once in the side.
