Here's a rumour from my MAILMAN i heard last night.
The Cats are willing to go hard for Norf's Pick 2.
So is the GFC willing to offload Pick 11 and 2021 First Rounder and swapping of pick 15 for 25 along with Chook for North Melb's Pick #2 ???
Gives NM 9, 11 & 15 plus an extra first rounder next year. We get #2 #16? #25 #35
Apparently Logan is the MAN to replace Hawk..
Or is it Thilthorpe... ??
Not sure but one is ranked a future key cog for the next decade.
Cheers boys, will enjoy your views.

North won't trade pick 2 period imo and McDonald probably goes at 1 anyway.

B Crouch is probably worth about pick 12 in real terms.

Crows also get pick 22 for Atkins, which is a joke, wouldn't be worth pick 40 on the open market.

Picks 21 and 22 for B Crouch and Atkins as a combination is about right.
Whilst I disagree that an 80 game Crouch is worth pick 12 at his age. He’s just not. Go back and look what the much younger Adams and D Smith etc we’re traded for.

I do agree it’s swings and roundabouts. You gain a little here lose a little there. If they end up with picks 20,21&22 for Atkins and Crouch they will have no end of possibilities to trade up. The Bulldogs for instance would be all over them.

Funny how a few pots can sway one's views lol

Yeah I was thinking the same. But stranger things have happened. Weller for #2 is one ??
Could be Thilthorpe??

Band 3 would still Net the Crows pick 21. Leaving them with 20 & 21. Band 2 leaves them with you guessed it 20 & 21.

Band 3 free agents have been Chris Mayne, Vickery, Wells, Scott Selwood, Dahlhaus, Sylvia, Brandon Ellis, Malceski

Band 2 Motlop, Rockcliff, Lycett.

Does anybody think there is any chance in hell a bloke like Crouch getting a 4-5 year deal won’t get Band 3 at the very worst.
Yeah I guess there's no real difference in outcomes for the crows. They were never getting band 1 and similarly never getting band 4.

That seems a lot to give up for one player. Trading of future firsts in a reputedly excellent draft is gambling too much I think.

Adelaide would be nuts to take another key forward, when what they really need is an elite ball winning mid - Hollands. As good as McDonald or Thilthorpe could be, they already have Himmelberg and Fogarty. Would think Fogarty's days are numbered if they pick up another key forward. Conversely, if Brouch leaves, Adelaide's midfield is going to be an aging Sloane, a handball happy Matt Crouch, and a butcher in Laird

Picks 11, 13 and Constable for 2 would be fairer, IMO. If you add in a 10 pick downgrade on our part, that seems like a bridge too far for just one player

That seems like a fairly complex trade. I guess it depends how free agency plays out. If we get Cameron then it would be a lot to give up just to stick a Thilthorpe in the 2s for 2-3 years. If we get Crouch plus have other mids that we're trying to get games into like Fogarty and Stephens then are we also throwing away one of our existing developing mids with it?

I have no idea which way they'd lean with the picks but taking three kids that you would expect need a year or two in the 2s first fits the timing of when we'd see some of the 28-32 year old players drop off. A top 5 Pick is pushing players out tomorrow.

I think we target Carl's pick 7. Retain two picks in the first round. And go best available with both. Too hard to predict who will be available atm before compo picks are sorted.

If you are going in for a specific player you'd be guessing it'll be one of the Top 3 not a speculative Pick 7 which might be 8 or 9 after all is said and done.
Especially if the deal is done before the live draft.

I think there is a lesson here... as Sydney could use a Crouch as well ... considering he is interested in playing more ruck ... it would been a convenient fit for us imo ....

Essendon unlikely to receive first-round compensation pick for free agent Joe Daniher
Essendon faces the possibility of missing out on pick 7 in free agency compensation for Joe Daniher, or losing him for nothing if the Lions walk away from the deal — and another club is ready to pounce.

Brisbane has made clear it is not prepared to trade for free agent Joe Daniher, adamant it will walk away and retain its two first-round picks if Essendon threatens to match its offer.
Essendon would ideally secure pick 7 as free agency compensation to smooth Daniher’s path north, but the Lions’ offer is likely to fall short of that first-round return.

It could mean Essendon would receive only an end-of-first-round compensation pick, and would consider matching the bid, trying to retain Daniher for the second straight season.

But Essendon would then potentially lose Daniher for nothing if it matched a free agency bid because he could then walk into the pre-season draft, where Sydney has the third overall pick.

Sydney remains interested in Daniher despite losing out to the Lions and would snap him up in a heartbeat......

He requested a trade to Sydney last year and despite their low-profile approach this year, the Swans continued to pitch to Daniher for his services.

It means the Dons will have to consider whether an end-of-first-round selection for Daniher is better than nothing.

Yet the Lions will have to play a delicate game of brinkmanship to secure Daniher as a free agent given Essendon’s determination to get maximum value from his loss.

The Herald Sun reported this week only guaranteed money in a contract is used to assess the free agency compensation for a departing player.

In an ideal world the Dons would secure pick 7 for Daniher and move on.

But the closest parallel is the end-of-first-round compensation handed to Brisbane when Tom Rockliff signed a four-year deal with Port Adelaide on around $650,000-$700,000 a season.

Joe Daniher faces a complicated path to get to Brisbane.
Joe Daniher faces a complicated path to get to Brisbane.
Daniher’s deal will not be dissimilar in guaranteed money — with more based on incentives — meaning it is hard to see how it would be worthy of first-round compensation immediately after Essendon’s No.6 selection.

Daniher has told some friends he would like to play more ruck at Brisbane because it frees him up to get up the ground.

But Brisbane is planning to recruit him as a key forward who they believe can play alongside Eric Hipwood and Dan McStay.

The Herald Sun understands Brisbane coach Chris Fagan has spoken to his key forwards to assure them he wants Daniher to play alongside them.

Brisbane customarily plays two rucks in Stef Martin and Oscar McInerney, so something may have to give instead of playing five key talls in the ruck and attack.

But Fagan continues to reassure his forwards they are all required in his system in 2021.
Would be hilarious to see that utter clown dodoro demand 3 first round draft picks for daniher, only for him to walk to the PSD and bombers get nothing. The deluded clown thinks his players are worth 2 or 3 times their real value.

I was thinking of live trading but I reckon the clubs know pretty much who is taking who most years in the first 7-10 spots. But I agree clearly if you trade into the first couple of picks then you get who you want without risk - but it's a hell of a cost to get just that one player.

To think he could have had 2 top 10 picks if he wasn't so obstinate last year. Karma....

Carlton would probably want to trade earlier in order to pick up Saad and still have a first.
Im not sure its worth it. Losing a first round pick to move up a handful of spots and as you said having no idea who is or isn't available.

I hope we take 3 picks to draft night and only look to move up if we know a player we want is available and we know they won't last until our picks.
Or if we can swing a pick into next years first round.

Otherwise with so many unknowns this year take 3 picks and use them on best available. Surely we are more likely to strike gold with more chances.

Does anybody else find it unbelievable that people have absolutely no dramas throwing up picks 11 and 13 for one unknown 18 year old.

Yet if somebody dare throw up an established A grade AFL player for two 1st Rd picks the board goes into meltdown.

We really are a complex country of gamblers.

Who .. it would have to be mcDonald or TThorpe .. who ever is there.

Let say its McDonald ... some have already question if taking him will set up a Kelly situation .. Westcoast will be in his ear from day1 etc. An interview with McDriscol has said that the Crows may take him to group to WA boys .... so. the CRows may have plans for McDonald. ..but. TTHorpe is a local

so if we say who ever is their pick , we pick the other and try to do the deal. Be difficult to do a deal for 2 ... but what the heck

2+25<> P11, FR1 (pick 15 ish 2021) , P15 , Constable. .... if we did that they would probably throw Higgins into it somewhere

would give us 2 , 13(16) , 25 (32) , 35 (42) ... if they could do that fine. I have wanted early pick and thats at least a brave move

I struggle with North doing it because clubs get stuck in a dream mode about who the player is they miss out on. There is a reason why no one has traded P1 since the Hodge trade ..

The difference now is drafting someone does not give you a Hodge for life. ..kids are very aware that their first club may not be their long term club. Its the idea of that early pick kid that hard to let go off. That works for us too. There is speculation on Brander .. he was P13 in 2017 ... and now he would be a lot less. If we do draft someone that early and they are interstate players we best be ready to play them. Putting them on ice does not work.

If we had already traded for Carltons 7 .. Weller for 2 was in part desperation to get a player who wanted to play for Gold Coast

lol. yep spot on.
i like the argument when someone says...
No No... i'm not going to throw away 2 unknown 18 year olds for just 1 unknown 18 year old.
Depends what you want i guess.
McDonald instead of Henry & McRae??
Thilthorpe instead of O'Driscoll & Chapman??
I'm easy either way.
But boy O boy that McDonald kid looks like a GUN.
