apparently we have had interest from clubs lower regarding our trio of picks in the 30's.

what do posters on here feel would be a good deal to package them and move up??

i wonder if the club does have such an interest, it would be warded off till draft night live trading to potentially see if someone they really like is sitting there around that proposed lower pick.. i can imagine the phone calls would go something like

" we are keen to give you (x) pick for your 3 x 30's picks, what do you think?"

wells: " let's put a pin in that until draft night, and if certain names we rate highly are available at that pick, we will give you the call and put forward the trade".

with live trading, i feel doing it prematurely is potentially putting us at risk of not nabbing the player we potentially are after, and even giving off a warning to another club with a slightly lower pick about who we might be targeting and to nab them first.

live trading on the night takes the associated risk out of the equation for me if teams are wanting to have our trio of picks to move back, we need some security of player names available to do such a move.

It’s an interesting question whether we should look to trade up or not. I think it really depends on what takes place between pick 1 and our first. I assume that if we do trade up it’s only for the Bulldogs pick.

I can only speak for myself but if 2 of Chesser, Brown, Taylor and MacDonald are available at 22 then I’d be keen to trade up and grab both of them. If however only one is left then I’d probably just hold our current picks and look to use them on the best of the rest - the likes of Knevitt or Long etc. Or grab Aleer, Bazzo or Williams if we want a tall.

As for a deal if we do trade for 23? I wouldn’t want to see the farm but 30 plus our future 2nd would be fair which would allow us to hold 5 decent picks in the draft. No more than 30 and 34.

Should we go for Schlensog ahead of all of those? Still young, in great form, exactly a need player with defensive skills, tall 199 cm, and quick.

Id back Schlensog when the alternative is taking a bloke in the 3rd round of the draft, weve delisted three blokes in a row taken there, unlikely to be missing out on much.

I don’t feel we can package up to get anywhere near a “sure fire” early pick. We are far better off keeping our current picks and having 4-5 Draft-Lotto tickets rather than 1-2.

Or at least way till draft day. Switching out this year first for Holmes was genius.

I agree but next year shapes as a much better draft for key forwards than last year so with hawkins 34 i wouldnt be trading out next years first when quality key forwards are really hard to get with later picks.

I would be surprised. Seems like a player that they could use, given their paucity of KPD's.

Plus the dogs like to pinch our fringe kpds.

That said they probably cant spare the senior list spot as they need enough spots open to take all their points carrying picks to the draft to match darcy bid. I wouldnt be surprised to see them take him at the back end of the ND on the night if no one takes him as a DFA before the draft.

Judson Clarke seems to have a few tricks, lots of Zak Butters about him. From reading though, it seems he might be a bit soft.

They also had KPDs like Gardner missing out on GF selection. Not sure it’s a need for them.

Where would you select BS in the real draft for Geelong? Our first pick?

They have lost young since and wood is retired.
They really only have keath (who is nearly 30) scache (better but still a fringe player) gardner (meh) cordy (role player) thats not a lot of depth or quality. Admittedly they play a system defence but i think they will want to bring in another kpd.
