Hey Cats I come in peace. What are your thoughts on Darcy Fort? I have seen him play a couple of times and remember him giving Oscar a bath and might have been Steph as well one game (last year or even earlier). I remember thinking at the time Geelong had found their ruckman. Obviously I was reading too much into a couple of games. But I do have a theory that Scott just doesn't rate pure ruckman and instead slots in guys who might not be great tap ruckman, but serve other roles in the team like Bilcavs, Ratugelea and even Stanley. Thoughts?

Go back and watch the 2011GF and have a look at Hawk's kicking then. Kicking can be fixed, you can teach routine and a better ball drop. You can't teach people to take pack marks.
Hawk was kicking fine in 2011 a better % than this year he shit the bed in the last quarter of the GF with his kicking at goal to the point of hand passing of to SJ the simplest of kicks.

I personally didn't think he was given enough opportunity considering the blokes in front of him were hardly Dempsey or Madden.

Yeah the coaching group seems to highly rate rucks who impact at ground level. For isn't really that but when resting forward he has been known to clunk a few marks and kick a goal.

I was a bit confused about him not getting a game back when Stanley was out. Would have liked to have seen it.

For late future pick you could do a lot worse

Sounds like Chris Scott is staying, based on the James Kelly interview. It makes sense, we won't get rid of him when money is tight seeing he is contracted.

Don't stress neither did Tom Hawkins early on.
Patience Grasshopper Patience.
Yes patience but we are talking about a different class of junior. The only similarity is that they both were drafted in the 40's. Sav 43 and Hawk 41. But we know thats missleading.

Sav is a different level of player imo. He relies on his spring for so much of his possession. I do not see the field kicking that Hawks has, left foot subtle kicks, the smart in game play. He could still be a good forward in the future in his own right but I doubt he becomes Hawkins level. He is yet to average a goal game. Hawk was never less than 1.2 in his worst year.

I have concerns about his ability to convert the way Hawk does from a wide range of spots but Hawk went years having his troubles too. Maybe Sav can get better, but I suspect we will never see the around the corner kicking , the finesse that Hawkins has. It would be interesting to look at where Sav kicks all his goals, and where Hawkins kicks his. I suspect Sav will be narrower and probably closer. Anyone who has spring like Sav has something to offer.. as long as that spring lasts.

he showed some very good form in some VFL games the last year or two but just cant find a way to be selected. Maybe he is not up to it, maybe he doesnt cover the ground like they want, maybe it just the MC have made up their mind. You's guys will be starting a Briscats club soon.

Not an AFL standard player and will turn 29 before the end of next season, but adeqate mature-age backup for your list.

He must have looked bloody ordinary in training to not get a single game this season given our ruck situation was as bad as ever. I would have given him a game though.

He's basically only played four games in the ruck for us, rounds 4-7 last year. The rest he mostly played in the forward line I believe where he's not AFL standard. But those four games in the ruck were, for me, a lot more respectable than what Stanley usually dishes up and he doesn't get enough credit for them. Four games, three against Witts, Gawn, and Grundy, and only really had his colours lowered in one half (second half against Grundy). Then got injured and was never seen again.

Saints will keep future 1st in the hope that Ben King is available

They will need that and plenty more. Im not sure what their situation is with 2 picks in 4 years. They will need 2022 R1, a Fr1 and probably something else if the picks are late. They will put the peg in the ground for him. Its not really fair but thats our system, its not like he was asked to be drafted up there.

What about Joel Corey as an assistant? Bontampeli was a big wrap on him at the dogs. he got squeezed out with the soft cap cuts. I think he moved back to the West.

Am I the only one who thinks 27 is a good score for a player we didn't want to play this year?
Nah, he is contracted, and he is still young enough to have the hype around him. I thnk Scarlo was a problem for him. He is a bit quirky Scarlo, might be an inclusive type, rather than open type. I think we will get in the 18-25 range.
