A couple better than this bloke in the draft... IMO.
Give me Phillipou any day, the second coming of the Bont.
But i'd prefer Cadman but he'll go Number 1 after F/S Ashcroft.
I'd rather Clark. We're no chance for Cadman.

The absolute state of reporting in this day age...

Gold Coast’s bid to trade Jack Bowes and pick No.7 to Geelong has taken a step forward, with both clubs meeting with AFL head of player movement Ned Guy on Friday afternoon.

Bowes nominated Geelong as his preferred destination after courting significant interest from Hawthorn and Essendon, with the Suns to hand over pick No.7 in exchange for the Cats taking on his $800,000 per year salary across the next two seasons.

The Cats are expected to sign Bowes to a four-year deal, thus smoothing out his contract.

7 News reported on Friday that both clubs had met with the league about the deal.

It’s expected Geelong will part with a future pick in order to get the league’s approval.

Visually Challenged Frederick could have told you this a week ago.

The Father Son rull has been thru changes before ..and after Selwood Hawkins. and so have trades and drafting . FA goes back to the 10 years rule in the 70's ...it went away and then came back.

Changes ... who knows what they can come up with. ... Draft Cap penalty for top side brining in FA's who knows ... but Id be surprised if they do zero
Having perennial underachievers and their anguished fans doesn't help. It depends how carefully the AFL considers the "look" of that as opposed to compromising integrity of free agency and all it was intended for. Players will probably be annoyed if top clubs are de-incentivised or outright blocked from offering them league-best care/opportunities. Kind of like if you want to move, well it has to be to another battler. There is only so much you can do to equalise. Your draft cap penalty suggestion would surely be as far as they could go.

Please watch some Bont draft highlights, Phillipou is tall & supposedly a left footer though you wouldn’t know it with how bad his kicking is, that’s about where the comparisons end, you could maybe make some comparisons to Cripps I guess.

Thing with Bont was he’s could have been drafted in any position outside of ruck how Saints ****ed that up I’ll never know.

Yeah Clark looks great, but I really like Mackenzie and Phillipou too. Id take either of those guys ahead of Clark if they're all still there.

But the club will probably take Clark if he's still on the board?

I'm not sure why people think clubs like Hawthorn be scared in taking Clark as he might want to go home to Geelong.. just because that's happened to a few doesn't mean I will happen to Clark... he is more then willing to play at any club
There culture is abit of a rabble atm I wouldn’t be too confident tbh

As per trade radio:
- IF Geelong trade Ratugolea they are apparently considering trading in Joel Hamling...

Anyone heard anything on that?

In my opinion people over rate the success of round 1 picks, it seems to be the expectation that Rd 1 means a guaranteed quality AFL footballer when the statistics show even picks 10-20 are only 50% chance to play 100 games. I'm not sure Bruhn will be a jet but hes shown he can play at the level. I think pick 18 for someone I would guess will at least play some football for us should be considered a win.
Good point. Just about every year we hear how the draft falls away after the first round and there won't be any decent players after that.

Every year players get picked in the 30s, 40s and beyond that become better than some of the top 10.

Then there are guys overlooked in the ND that get picked up as rookies and have better careers than some in the first round.

It's an absolute lottery. We could very well get a better player with pick 38 than pick 7...it's just the way it is..

No, but the guy has played 2 games in the past 2 years after injury.

Equity seems to be a crying out point of go to for poorly run organisations instead of absorbing blame and self improvement initiatives taking forefront.

The AFL doesnt want a scenario of well run clubs being punished for no more than the fact they did a good job managerially...

I didn't even realize he was still on a list - no way I see that happening
