Ask and we'll try our best to assist - so here's 2024 Provisional AFL Draft Order

As normal, would like to acknowledge & thank Lore for creating this, keeping it up to date and making it available for all users on BF to use and keep track of the picks ahead of the upcoming draft

I'll also sticky this post to ensure it's easily accessible for discussion of our hypothetical trader

Also,

Free Agency Closes: Friday October 11 at 5.00pm

I hear from mine about one a year on footy related matters. He is a shattered man
I have one who I see 2-3 times a year on my feed replying to the Saints media team posts.
Usually a well thought out essay on what's wrong with them. That's St.K for you, their ailments cannot be contained to a mere paragraph or less.

As much as Duncan looks cooked I can understand us giving him one more year on low $$$ to space out senior players.

Hawk, Touhy, Rohan all over 30... and Parf this year.

Duncan next year (+ we nurse him to 300).

Danger the year after that.

They're the only club in the AFL where nuffies on here and social media might have a better idea of what they're doing than the people in charge.

It's actually impressive how much they manage to get wrong. The law of averages says you might get it right eventually.

So…. Do we assume Bailey will be taking #3 for next year or am I being a little presumptuous? Very sorry to see the end of Parf and Rohan. Both provided plenty of entertainment in their time at the cats. Both maligned but I think both also made the most of their abilities and finish up as Premiership players. Congrats to them both.

I wonder if Conway would want to change numbers?

Hardie a bit unlucky, but he’s a long way back as a preferred mid.
Clohesy seems more favoured and likely got an AFL spot, especially considering he was emergency in the PF.
Rohan and Parfitt no surprise really.
Crap way for Rohan to go out, but I’d be pretty certain the club will look after him medically.
I’d think we’ll offer Stanley another year as insurance unless Rhys has had enough, which I think could be likely. He just may not want the pain of another pre season and running around on sore knees.

They both won't retire

But not sure how many games either will play

Stanley was reasonably good through the second half of the season, but is allegedly playing with a degenerative knee isn't he?

Duncan just looks old now, and whilst I understand the need to control the exit of our seasoned players we'll be in trouble if he plays many games next year.

Disappointed to see Foster gone. I only watched him play once, but thought he showed heaps of potential in that game. Guessing I may have simply caught one of his better performances.

Pretty interested to see Peatling's name floated though - I'd be all over that like a rash. He was super impressive in the second half of the year in the GWS games I watched.

Guthrie and blicavs definites. If you hang onto duncan bews stanley then thats 5 gone. Danger possible.
If either foster or willis survive this cut they go in 12months if not best 22.
If knevitt and clohesy arent getting gametime next year they will likely look for trades (and fair enough). Stevens and wiltshire would be question marks for 2026. Atkins to me is questionable (though the club loves and might keep). So thats 10 possible even assuming sdk neale and close and mannagh all sign.
Well danger is staying an extra year on top of that so it's 5 definitely. Ill add Stevens who i think will go too. Wiltshire hard to say without any evidence so it's possible.

I don't think Knevitt is going next year though, he's flexible enough we'll find a way to use him, and Clohesy is definitely showing signs so I don't expect him to go. If they do go it'll probably be for a trade for a 2nd/3rd so you won't be delisting them for the last pick in the draft and I wouldn't count them here.

So I'd say we're probably at 6-7 keeping those names. Which incidentally is adding about the same number of last pick in the draft types as this year.

It's not always true, but how many games do you see Duncan and Stanleys bodies letting them play?
Stanley is a different kettle of fish, being a ruckman - it's too specialised a position for this.

Duncan? Well, he played 22 games this year, so I see him being fit for roughly 18 next year.

Think Rohan will transfer to coaching the AFLW or similar. Seems like a good guy to have around, just not around your physios
