Ask and we'll try our best to assist - so here's 2024 Provisional AFL Draft Order

As normal, would like to acknowledge & thank Lore for creating this, keeping it up to date and making it available for all users on BF to use and keep track of the picks ahead of the upcoming draft

I'll also sticky this post to ensure it's easily accessible for discussion of our hypothetical trader

Also,

Hearing tonight that SDK is possibly on the move despite what his manager has said earlier.
That genuinely wouldn't shock me tbh, and if the club really rates COS and expect him to develop into that player they might not even fight as much, and more often than not to get something you have to give something.. Lots to play out the next fortnight

The one thing I do know is that it's like Dr House says... everybody lies... Especially managers, they are the biggest weasels of all

Close hails from mt Gambier played for Glenelg I think in SANFL. Perhaps they think there is a go home factor?
Unlikely. Close came out recently and said he wants to remain here and is wanting to start negotiations on a new contract extension. Said how much he loves Geelong etc and was ready to look at extending if the club would have him. From memory he is OOC 2025.

I remember thinking it all seemed a bit strange and it's if he was sending a message to the club to speed things up a bit.

I could be reading it wrong, but I got the impression it was the club putting talks on a new deal on the back-burner.

Kobe Gryant GAS did it for me, touring the ‘Inner Sanctum’ privately + seeing him in Speedos

Down With Love Omg GIF
I met GAS a few times when he was delivering for (can't remember - Geelong Board member - Hovey's?).

Very humble man but very hard not to be humbled by him TBH. An amazing sportsman

Agreed. The complication and also obvious conflict here is I believe that all of Smith, Oliver and SDK use the same management group.

Hope that mail is incorrect (it’s from a different source to my Oliver mail) but normally pretty reliable.

I always thought the trope on Ruckman and intelligence was overblown ..but some of these guys really do put jam in the donut.

100 %.

That's why I say some are just happy getting paid to play 2s and don't have the ambition to be no1.

Hopefully the new lads all scored an invite to the B&F. Just to send the whinging oppo nuffies a little more troppo
Imagine Scotty up on stage:
"And now I'd like to welcome some new cats to the clowder. Jack, Bailey and Clayton, come on out here."

He's not on the move this year (mainly because no club will pay what Geelong would ask if they would different story) but he's definitely going to look at his options next year same as his brother.

Losing a 23 yo proven KPP who can play in muliple key position roles, who is about to come into his prime would be a very bad outcome.

I know he's had his troubles recently - form and injuries - but you don't let these blokes walk out the door. Must fight to retain him.

If they believe he's going at the end of next year when he's OOC and we won't get the same compo given he's OOC, I get us cutting our losses now to a degree.

But id rather see us hold him to his deal, and talk him around next year to stay long-term.

Yes, just heard that is on the cards.
Geelong: Oliver

MFC: F1 (Carlton)

Carlton: SDK

Look, it's not ideal, but Willo_'s right.

If the club has immense faith in COS, and desires to keep their future first too, it might not be the worst thing in the world.

My bigger worry would honestly be our ruck stocks if Stanley/Conway went down rather than our defenders.

JHenry & COS won't be going away anytime soon, and Kolo & Stewart have a while left too.

3 way deal involving Carlton, Melb and us ?

Possibly but Carlton are a) trying to move guys like Kennedy and young (they would probably want to do the same with pittonet if they had both dekonings) to free up cap and until they do it I doubt they can afford Sam and b) Carlton won't offer what we would want. But I'm sure they have asked.

I hope you are correct but my mail tonight suggests otherwise.

That’s a hideous trade for us in isolation

Oliver isn't worth a r1 unless melb are paying a huge amount of the contract.
And we would want more than 1 r1 for sdk (I think it's fair but the club would want more).

We would also need to at very short notice get either a mature kpd or ruck to replace him and it's probably too late for that this trade period. Hence I think sdk next year is more likely.
