Thats lovely but hes also shown he lacks professionalism and clubs wont ignore it.
But he used to be awesome.

Come on man, why can’t you see it?

Just because he has the physique of your standard mid-pubescent girl doesn’t mean he is unprofessional.

It was just a blip.

I wonder if we could package Ollie Henry in a Clayton Oliver or in a Bailey Smith trade.

Ok, so got some interesting details surrounding Melbourne after having some drinks with a close mate after the Cats game. This info comes from someone within the club with strong personal relationships with the players I’m about to mention and I can’t say anything more on the source as it’s unfair etc. but this is what he told me.

So, I know I’ve been strong on our interest in Oliver they’ve told me Oliver’s inclination and preference is to stay. This has surprised me.

Not sure what the implications of all this is. If we are trying to lure him and Melbourne are keen and Oliver is actually saying he will stay? Because my other source is reliable who told me we are chasing him hard. It sounds complex but will put some people in here at ease knowing Oliver wants to stay put. So this has swayed me to thinking that’s how it will go down unless Melbourne actually push him out.

Petracca’s preference is to leave, he wants the move but he is also aware of how difficult it would be and won’t force his way out. So, by my estimates he will 100% be staying. Again, unless something changes and it turns sour.

ANB 100% leaving. Doesn’t have the family network over there with a little one so the club is happy to accomodate the move for him. Preference is Crows.

And confirmed that Viney wants out. Which comes as no surprise.

So yeah, maybe not the mass exodus I’ve been expecting with the absolute surprise that Oliver wants to stay. I asked him about five different ways about Oliver hahaha he did say he thinks he will bounce back next year though.

I don’t think we will throw our hat in the ring for Viney personally. His size and profile is too similar to who we already have and isn’t an accumulator. I don’t see the fit personally but anyway… some late night goss and I just tell you guys what I hear without bias and goes to show how different news can be from different sides of the fence and relationships with people. I’ll keep it coming as I hear it.

Giving any more than a single FR pick for Smith is a bad idea. Praying for Mackie to understand expected value here.

I really hope we don’t **** this up.
Mostly aligned to that but I'm OK with throwing in a second. I just think we cannot, under any circumstances, trade out the future picks

This times a million
Even if you're not a draft guy, you just have to keep the option open.

Imagine Collingwood right now.

Had they kept the pick, they'd be right into the Petracca sweepstakes with a high pick up their sleeves, or they'd be picking up a young talent to ease the pain of a disappointing year.

Instead, they're no shot at getting Trac, or a young star...and they're stuck with Lachie 'Poor mans Shaun Mannagh' Shultz on a long term deal.

Now, Bailey Smith is probably not going to be a disaster like that, as he's a younger player in a prime position on the field rather than a tubby small forward...but the point stands, you never know what's going to come available.

As of today it looks like I won’t be ripping my heart out through my throat then.

That is a positive 👍

Pretty harsh.
22 and yet to reach 70 games. I know he dropped an absolute sitter last night but with his hands, we could even put him behind the ball. Sicily has made a career for himself doing similar.
Sorry bud. But he's heart hasn't grown since he arrived back home.
Still the size of a green pea.
Most over rated youngster i've seen in the hoops in quite awhile.
Probably unpopular by a few.
But my eyes see what they see.
FWIW now i am hecken spewing we were blinded by a 40 goal season and passed on that youngster Nate Caddy now.

Just gotta pull this up.
I know you mean the opposite of "nurture" depression here. But the idea that depression is curable or fixable is simply misleading.
It can be treated or managed for some people. For others it's a lifelong condition. Many who suffer from it can often function at a very high level in their jobs.
It's easy to underestimate the courage of an AFL player like Smith to open up about mental health. But to suggest that playing in a winning team or for a club with "good culture" can cure someone's depression, just perpetuates some unhelpful myths about mental health.
Not a personal criticism of your view on Smith. Just wanted to respond to that one point.
I’m not a mental health expert so thanks for the info. I refer on when I suspect I don’t treat it

Thanks for the update. Good post. The only ITK I have is that I read Big Footy and then only the Geelong page.

It seems to me the with the list of names that want out of the Demons, they need to act. Unless the club management are looking to get sacked, they are not letting go of Trac or Viney. But they have to be seen to act and not just words or back office staff. They need to be doing something major to address the issue. Trac actually saying he wants out is like a gun to their heads.

So the what do they do? In my view the obvious thing, in fact the only thing, is to get Oliver out.

I'm sure Clarry is making all the right noises about wanting to stay. It will assist in his negotiating position. But I see him as gone. As I have previously posted, I would like him in the hoops. But with Melbourne paying say half of his contract and him agreeing to performance clauses that mean he has serious skin in the deal.

Why would he agree to performance clauses?

Reckon Mannagh might have been thr main driver there

Im pretty sure we would have taken connor regardless of henry. And given blicavs struggles its the right call at least right now. Time will tell if it works.

You are in a dream world here mate.

Yeah maybe. let's hope it works out with COS Mannagh and most of all OlliePeaHeart.
Needs a big preseason on the track with a big engine and some extra strength.
Giving me the Mitchell Brown heebeegeebees with a lack of application off field which is magnified on field.
Fingers crossed.

Caddy looks good but I reckon the trade is tracking well for us at this stage.

If he could play defence they would have put him there by now IMO.
I think they know what i know and some others know.
Not hard enough. Our defence would give up an extra 2-3 goals with him manning a Nate Caddy lol.
Cheers Bud.
