Pretty harsh.
22 and yet to reach 70 games. I know he dropped an absolute sitter last night but with his hands, we could even put him behind the ball. Sicily has made a career for himself doing similar.
Don’t mind him. Henry will kick hundreds of goals for Geelong. Tracking just fine.

If stagnating/going backwards is tracking fine then I agree.
If calling a player stagnating because his team kicks bombs on his head while he is double teamed every week then I agree.

Is that the excuse we using for a players failure to deliver these days??
Let's not go down that path as we can start doing the same for plenty of others.
As for double teaming. The silly runt keeps running into occupied space.
Of course there is gonna be two of them.
One V One. He can't beat the 3rd best defender.??
Fundamentals of a forward players craft 101.
He fails more often than most.
Only need to watch his patterns.
In preseason was instructed to work on his engine and his strength.
Mitch Brown Mark 2..??
Hopefully preseason 2025 the penny drops.
Every one has talent in the AFL.
It's the other traits and intangibles that u need to become a good player.
Fingers crossed he finds one or two of them.

Not a fan.

He looks great when he bobs up and kicks his 2-3 goals, but when his lead mark game infront of goals is not working for him, he becomes a large liability across the game.

How many times has Ollie Henry run back to help out in defense?? Or how many intercept marks across hb Has he taken??

He leaves it all up to the other half forwards and cherry picks the hard work of others

Yeah maybe. let's hope it works out with COS Mannagh and most of all OlliePeaHeart.
Needs a big preseason on the track with a big engine and some extra strength.
Giving me the Mitchell Brown heebeegeebees with a lack of application off field which is magnified on field.
Fingers crossed.
Be better than this, for crying out loud.

You can question effort and application without being the sort of person nobody would want to sit near on a train.

LOL.
The funny thing is.
I actually drive the Train. Hehehe.
But back on the subject of OH.
I stand by my views.
I have watched him since his junior days and nothing has changed.

It's fine to have views but "OlliePeaHeart" is pathetic and you must be a little embarrassed actually typing things like that.

It's fine to say player X has these weaknesses and flaws. The rest of the carry on is poor form.

Actually u are right.
I shouldn't resort to the PeaHeart term.
I've lowered myself to an area that i'm not fond of.
So i will put a line thru it and just call it as i see it from now on buddy.
No harm No foul We play on.
Cheers

This will be an unpopular post.

But it's an accurate one.

Macrae doesn't tolerate lack of effort - hence the reason other battlers like Ash Johnson were even ahead of him and played in front of him

Mitch Brown....sadly you may be correct..

No worries, otherwise I find your posts insightful and on the money often enough. I think Henry did show plenty of good signs last year (and plenty to work on), but he has had a disappointing relapse as 2024 has progressed. So I sit somewhere in the middle, open to both sides of the debate as long as it is kept respectful.

I’d take the contract if Oliver came with pick 5/6. The whole MFC is a basket case, not just Oliver. Just look at some of the Goodwin rumours. I’m confident we’d get him sorted.

Yeah, I think like the "Bailey Smith is cultural poison" comments, the player is just a small part of equally shithouse cultures stemming from the uh, personalities of the head coaches.

Actually I think there are probably a few similarities between the clubs in that respect.

Ok, so got some interesting details surrounding Melbourne after having some drinks with a close mate after the Cats game. This info comes from someone within the club with strong personal relationships with the players I’m about to mention and I can’t say anything more on the source as it’s unfair etc. but this is what he told me.

So, I know I’ve been strong on our interest in Oliver they’ve told me Oliver’s inclination and preference is to stay. This has surprised me.

Not sure what the implications of all this is. If we are trying to lure him and Melbourne are keen and Oliver is actually saying he will stay? Because my other source is reliable who told me we are chasing him hard. It sounds complex but will put some people in here at ease knowing Oliver wants to stay put. So this has swayed me to thinking that’s how it will go down unless Melbourne actually push him out.

Petracca’s preference is to leave, he wants the move but he is also aware of how difficult it would be and won’t force his way out. So, by my estimates he will 100% be staying. Again, unless something changes and it turns sour.

ANB 100% leaving. Doesn’t have the family network over there with a little one so the club is happy to accomodate the move for him. Preference is Crows.

And confirmed that Viney wants out. Which comes as no surprise.

So yeah, maybe not the mass exodus I’ve been expecting with the absolute surprise that Oliver wants to stay. I asked him about five different ways about Oliver hahaha he did say he thinks he will bounce back next year though.

I don’t think we will throw our hat in the ring for Viney personally. His size and profile is too similar to who we already have and isn’t an accumulator. I don’t see the fit personally but anyway… some late night goss and I just tell you guys what I hear without bias and goes to show how different news can be from different sides of the fence and relationships with people. I’ll keep it coming as I hear it.

Nice info and you might be right about Oliver now wanting to stay but we were never chasing him hard. Oliver indicated to Geelong that he wanted to come, I think we were pretty indifferent about it. So there's been talk between Oliver's camp and Geelong but it wasn't instigated by us.

Are you a fan of O Henry?? I obviously have a lot of respect for you as a poster and want your thoughts.

I can see his obvious strengths, great overhead mark, has some X factor in the forward half, great leap decent speed and agility.

When he is not clunking a few marks inside fifty, my concern is how little else he has at his disposal to influence a game. What he lacks he lacks in spades.

Almost non existent defensive work and transition help up the field.

Low accumulator also.

I think the talent is obviously there and I would never advocate getting rid of a talent like him. But he has a lot to work on over the offseason

I was happy with what Ollie Henry contributed last year as a marking forward in his 3rd year of football. We weren't a high functioning team either. He had things to work on of course and I saw some solid signs early this season that he was improving: his score involvements, disposals and goal assists for instance were all averaging higher. His direct scoreboard damage and conversion remained high.

Then something happened around the Port game in round 10. He's been completely devoid of confidence, killer instinct and effectiveness since then. So in my eyes he has stalled. At times his defensive work and contesting of aerial balls has been decent but it too quickly falls off.

I'm not ready to call time on him like a baffling amount of people on here seem to want to. Henry has plenty of potential but a whole lot to work on to become a complete player. If he could return to his one wood of kicking plenty of important goals he would still be tracking well. However with that falling off he's in a concerning rut. Losing his clinical set shot conversion is a killer blow to his game if it carries on too much longer.

This is the issue. He is unable to effectively work up the ground. He needs to improve his endurance and ability to find the ground ball so he can work up the field when matched on a taller player. At the moment if he is matched for height he gets completely bent over in the forward 50

His only 22yo, so if he puts in a huge pre season he can improve on this.

If he can build a big aerobic tank working up and down the field all day long with his skill sets he will become a star of the game.

If he remains a sit inside fifty lead and mark player and doesn’t want to work towards anything else, then he will just stay the player he is

Calder... if you want Oliver, what in picks would we have to give up?
I actually don’t think it’s possible to form an opinion of it.
No way GFC would take on his entire contract so makes things difficult to judge.

Also depends if he wants out and they want him out
