Hi all,
Just a neutral view from last night..hope you don’t mind:

- Milera needs to play more midfield..how’s his tank?? He offers something different..takes the game on and has nice skills to break the lines...whilst crouch x2 and Sloane are elite inside mids, they are predictable..same issue Melbourne has with Oliver, viney and brayshaw.
- it won’t happen but one of tex or jj should be dropped for Fogarty..why isn’t he playing?
Current forward line not working.

- chayce Jones will make it. He looks like he has all the attributes.

- greenwood back will make a big difference. He’s clearance work is elite and can go forward and kick goals.

- Bryce Gibbs has had an average start to the season...with brad crouch back, it will hurt him. He seems disinterested. Need to find a set role for him and stick to it. Half back would be his best role and push Milera more into the midfield

You guys have the talent to play finals, you just need guys like Tex,jj, Eddie, Gibbs to find form. You got within 3 points against a top 4 side at 3/4 time. It’s not panic stations yet. Good luck for the rest of the season.

McHenry could do that job and Fog needs to be our intercept defender imo

Milera is starting to play a bit more midfield but not enough. A lot of us reckon both Tex and JJ should be dropped, they are in terrible form. Bottom line is that this is not 2017, we are in the year 2019. Our experienced mature players of 2017 have hit the wall, from here onwards its only going to get worse for them.

We had our shot in 2017 as the draft is designed to do and we blew it. We wont land in a grand final until we clean out the admin, coaches, and replace our aging players.

The three players that wanted so much more than they were worth like CC, Gov and Lever would have helped facilitated that transition of replacing players like Tex and Betts for starters. Question remains should we have kept them? Who did we end up securing given the treasure chest we had from not paying them overs?

In 2017 we still had the sounds of terrific and fast footy from Phil Walsh in the veins. That has all but been sieved out now with the collective minds shit still hiding in the shadows, Burton and Hart playing front and centre. Can we at least get McLeod to teach a few of these guys to kick and handpass to a moving target? and then build from there.

My only difference is I think it’s not just MacKay. There’s a few that get shoehorned in.

He’s just the very worst example.

Our older senior players, Tex, Betts, Mackay and Gibbs are done.

It wasn't Tex's injuries last year, this is his level
Betts has been hit by age, it happens, you have to accept it as a club
Gibbs was not worth 2 first round picks, his kicking is terrible
Mackay should never be in the side, IDGAF about last week. 2 quarters a season is not enough after 200 games

The others:
JJ and Lynch put in shockers, yes Lynch did some good things, but FMD they both cost us
Hartigan is the 2nd biggest blow from Doedee's injury other than losing Doedee because he'll play every week.
Milera has to decide if he wants it
Our ruck stocks are completely ****ed
Kelly can't kick
Our forwards can't lead, mark, kick
Sloane is our real captain
Brad and Matt put the team on their backs in the 3rd quarter. Yes Brad should have nailed that goal, but that was not the winning goal - what happened in the following 3 minutes lost it for us
Losing Seedsman is devastating it'll mean Mackay plays every week.
We are slow. We drafted speed. Given them a go.

We are a long way off it. Yes our goal kicking was shit, but they carved us up

Seedsman to forward pocket had to be one of the dumber decisions last night. Why not roll Gibbs forward and Seedsman back.

I would seriously consider Fog, Walker and Lynch tells and Betts, Stengle, Davis forward combo pending Davis tonight. Our forward line is shot, it needs change. Gibbs and Rat on the wings with Milera in the centre.

Good: We played horrible and had a chance to steal it. If that had been paid 15 meters and a mark which I think it should have, and crouch slots that goal maybe we go on to win. We will never know.

Acceptable: Sloane tried hard.

Putrid: Selections. You lose matches at the selection table. Obrien, hartigan and Mackay are not up to the level. Eddie Betts was putrid, but he has credits in the bank. But if he has another month like last night, he shouldn't be in the team either. With seedsman going down with what looked like an acl and the other injuries we have acquired already our depth is being tested, and it's not looking as great as we had thought.

But playing jenkins in the ruck all night and bringing in Hugh greenwood (if fit) would have been a hell of a lot better at the selection table than going with obrien and no greenwood. We were destroyed in the centre. Obrien embarrassed himself. Mackay served up the same rubbish.. And Eddie did his disappearing act. Tex barely escapes criticism this week, just because he's an easy target. With doedee injured I can see why hartigan was playing out of necessity, but he better be gone the minute we have an alternative. Gibbs slaughtering the ball out of defence didn't help.

I feel bad for Adelaide.

They couldn't emulate West Coast or Sydney's recent successes because their coach was murdered. It robbed them of years, scarred people. Shit like Dangerfield staying comes into play if Walsh lives. They were kicked into the bad future.

They can't be like Hawthorn or Geelong because they aren't in Victoria. Clarkson got to host Geelong at the G in 2008, which kickstarted his career and was the thread that saved him when they had the axe over his head in 2010.

Clarkson loses the players a few years in and is fired at Adelaide. You know it's true. And it would be the correct call, because you don't come back from losing the players.

It's the correct call for Pyke too. Once you've lost them you've lost them, and you need to find a spark again.

Hawthorn, Geelong and Collingwood have won 0 premierships interstate. They are what they are - the trust in their game plans, the tenure of their coaches, their player retention - because they reside in Victoria and participate in a league that favours them.

We don't have our list and salary cap concessions anymore either.

But you can look at what the same organisation has been able to do with the women's team in a fair league and see that, when put on equal footing, they are suddenly winning premierships.

Men's game is broken and that is that. I'm not attending games anymore.

Your lucky then if you have the ability to be entertained by a certain standard of footy

Can't agree, Rory Sloane and Matt Crouch are playing good footy. Gibbs is the one that needs a rocket mostly....has the look of a player just coasting through his last contract and really doesn't GAF , some of his lackadaisical turnovers last night really burnt us big time. He's the one that really needs to be sent a strong message along with JJ.

1. Kick it to a non-leading Walker in a 3 on 1
2. Run to 60, risk a tackle/smother and make a tired kick to the goal square, where two Geelong players were in position to easily reach it before I think Eddie Betts
3. Draw a man and handpass to Lynch running on the overlap.

He picked 3, and just as he went to do it, Lynch stopped overlapping, and the ball went out. Hiding to nothing.
