I’m still in disbelief about the the sholl “play on” holding the ball call.

Was an interesting call.

The AFL changed the rule this year about 'feigning a pass, equals play on and not pinging them for 50' however, SPP was within the protected zone.

That was probably a 80/20 call (between 50 to us/free to them).

But as there's technically a grey area in the ruling, the AFL can give it the tick of approval (publicly, while most likely telling the umpire directly - "You ****ed up")

What is best seeing our team of kids run all over a opposition .
Or seeing Port Adelaide getting smashed.
Apart from finals ,yes I remember them ,there is no greater time in life than winning a showdown and easily in the end.
Like many bit shocked Dawson got trophy and personally I thought for whole game effort ROB all round game deserved it .
Even Milera did something in last Qtr.
Yes I am still on the Jones support group and hope can kick on from tonights game.
There will never be a worse umpires call than that Sholl holding the ball. NEVER.

Eddie was great but an arsey player, and I say that with the utmost respect.

Rankine is more polish.

Disagree, Eddie is one of the great small forwards over a long long period.

What Rankine has that Eddie didn't have is explosiveness and ability to play up the ground.

There were 2 incidents tonight. Can't recall who the other one was though.

I think the bad was negligible when the effort was clearly the GOOD tonight.
What’s great is that all the young lads have shown a step up from last year.

Ugly in first quarter - 2 umpire frees against our players, being caught holding the ball while being tackled from behind after a mark. The rule should have been 50m penalty for us, since the opposition player didn’t get away from the restricted zone after a mark. That ruined the spectacle of an otherwise entertaining 1st quarter.

Murray will be the gun top tier tall defender. Not hard to go out and recruit a good kpp to compliment Murray. I still like Butts but he appears to be playing hurt.

I'm not knocking Eddie for a second, I'm just saying Eddie had that knack of pulling them out the wazoo and doing the little frenetic things to arse out a goal.

Rankine seems to be smoother and cleaner.
