Betts are off Good call on Daicos - we restricted him to 27 @ 56%. I scoffed at the idea but it was achieved and we nearly got over the line
And considering he took most not sure exactly of the numbers of their kick outs and played on for extra possessions its probably more at the 20 disposal mark.

Although his DE may go up there as a couple of his kick outs were puss. But we were just more puss at kicking a goal and gave him another chance.

FWIW in the last quarter this was the CBA's (clearances):

Keays - 5
Dawson - 4 (1)
Laird - 4 (0)
Sloane -2 (0)

Adams - 5 (1)
JDG - 4 (1)
N Daicos - 4 (1)
Mitchell - 2 (0)

We know we won't win many games with keays & Laird playing the most mid time but importantly they had some absolute stars in there as well.

Good: The effort and intensity and showing we can match it with good sides.

Bad: The last boundary throw in on the Crows half forward flank. Scores tied. O’Brien needed to beat Frampton and punch the ball 20m towards our goal to the boundary. The last couple Frampton had forced O’Brien under the ball, it got out the back, Collingwood went forward. O’Brien beat him, but tried to do a Paddy Ryder/Robbie Gray tap over the head which opened up a direct route to Sidebottom. It was dumb football. He tries so hard, but he’s just not the answer and it’s time Stauchan is given an extended run.

Ugly: The kicking for goal. The clearance work in the last quarter.

We lost after leading 3-10 to 0.2, what did you expect? A hug?

I think a lot of us knew when we were 3.10 that it was going to come back and haunt us.

I think the reason why the loss stung so much was that deep down we all knew what was coming and it felt like torture having to witness it happening again.

It was torture. We were the better side but not on the scoreboard. I'm proud of the effort but crying inside with the result.

Milera was garbage, Walker has started playing like a man who has realised he's never going to be first to the ball again.

A bunch of players were either ok or just drifting, some did as many good things as bad things. It was a real team effort.

Jones goal in the last perfectly exemplified the kind of player he is, can do really good things when he doesn't have to think about anything because the objective and target are right there and it's all over before a conscious though appears, but any time he needs to use his brain for thought or decision making, all his AFL skills vanish in a puff of smoke.

Thilthorpe is still giving off more Brad Moran vibes than is healthy for a young ruckman. More marks this week was good, but that was a pretty weak aerial contest out the back against Moore in the last.
like his 60 metre drop punt goal late in the 3rd from a free kick?

I called it early in the second quarter.

Pardon the intrusion.

A few things, you should've walloped us today, no ifs buts or maybes. Had the game on your terms for most of the game apart from the last qtr.

We were terrible, and have been for the most part since the the loss @ the Gabba, that's not discrediting your team just an observation.

There seems to be a habit of teams capitulating when it matters most against Collingwood, why I don't know.

The umpiring was terrible on both sides of the stick as well. Geez both teams got some howlers as well as some obvious missed frees.

In any case, Adelaide should take some positives out of this loss, I'm sure Nicks will as will the team.

Confident we'll see you in the finals.
You’re being generous on the umpiring. There were a couple of blatant frees missed to you guys in the last (Murphy’s nose spoil by Fog and Johnson’s ear rub in the goal square by Butts).

We just need a coaching group that doesn’t shit the bed.

To lead for all but 20 secs.

Our kicking for goals cost us but our midfield should equally take the blame. We were smashed in clearances and especially in that last qtr.

To be 4 goals up early in the last and lose is inexcusable. I don’t care we pushed a top team, if we miss the finals by one game that will have little consolation and if anyone is happy we got so close they accept mediocrity.

Not just that; he told the AFL that he abused the conditions of what a sub is about, didn't he?

Wouldn't surprise me if Nicks didn't know the rule has changed.

Tonight reinforced we don't have the impact midfield or burst pkayer. Wish they would try Milera (who was awful) or Doedee or Pedlar or FOG more often to get them developed as a pinch hitter. Tonight the Laird, Dawson, Sloane, Rachelle combo in the centre just didn't work in the last. Nicks was devoid of other options

Nicks wasn't devoid of options, you listed some of them - he just reverted to type - Laird, Keays and Sloane.

I actually wanted Rankine to just take that shot, he kicks that almost every single time. Soligo should have still kicked it, but Rankine on that type of angle is almost just write it down stuff.

As I said yesterday, there are only 4 players within 50m that have exemption not to pass the ball off - Walker, Fogarty, Rankine and Dawson. All the rest if there is a better option, give it off.

I don’t think anyone is truly happy with losing, but some of us are not losing our minds.

You have some exciting youth coming through and there is no way this happens with some more experience.

Expecting the Crows to win enough games at home to play finals this year and no doubt push higher in 2024.
In a vacuum you may be right but being a crows fan it doesn't always work this way. I worry when Tex, Sloane and Laird either slow or are gone we will struggle.

How do you define fickle supporter since you’re trying to make the point.
Sure, from google "fickle suggests unreliability because of perverse changeability and incapacity for steadfastness. performers discover how fickle fans can be. capricious suggests motivation by sudden whim or fancy and stresses unpredictability.'

To me, fickle supporter is the objective lack of balance, the extremes of being on here elated if we had won by a point or more (which clearly should have happened) to bagging the club, players and coach for a heart breaking loss. Everyone is disappointed with the result. Devastated esp as we deserved to win and shot ourselves with kicking 3-10 to start the game with at least a handful or regulation goals in that mix. But also remember we are the youngest and least experienced team (or close to on both fronts) and played the premiership favourites in a game we outperformed them but didn't get the points.

But to have an individuals complete persona, views and posting impacted by the barest of margin I would call those people fickle supporters

Would you call yourself a fickle supporter George based on my definition?

Rankine passed that one off too to Soligo if not mistaken from not that far out.

Walker tries to short pass on the 50 when the stage is set for him to launch a team lifter.

It wasn't just the misses it was decision making as well.

There are certain forwards in our team who should be given all ok to go for the sticks.

Yes, it is a team game but a few players have earnt it. I was gobsmacked when Walker and Rankine both gave it off.

We were crying out for someone to take the game by the scruff for us. Noone stood up.
Dawson is capable but we need another.
Rachele will hopefully get there but I hope we throw a massive contract at a top line mid.

Thanks man, yep that was a super lofty goal but Ben did a very good job IMO, also dropped his uncontested touches down by 9 on season averages. I think Daicos's stats were padded quite substantially by kick in's as well (especially considering we kicked so many damn behinds). I didn't count, but saw him take a minimum of 5, possible closer to 10.

If other clubs aren't going over this tape furiously as a blue print on how to curb him, then they as missing a trick IMO.
