Thats a stupid comment to make, for starters I wasnt on BF early in the game. Secondly I didnt write us off. I did complain about how the umpires were robbing us which could cost us, which they did with several goals against us.

One thing i've noticed in both games is we are fit as hell. I hate to say this but there running power reminds me of port in 2013-2014. I think were going to over run a fair few teams this year.

One day less rest and played a man down from early on and played in energy sapping heat last week and yet no problems today. Very very impressive.

We were just fortunate that the Hawks of 2017 aren't the Hawks of 2008-16. Sure, from the position we put ourselves in we still had to win and get the 4 points. We did the job which is a big tick. On the road, at the MCG.

But as far as credibility for us to beat better teams in September we're still a long way off based on that start.

Your point is right. The big picture point.

But it's round 2 and teams are all still trying to work out where they stand. To fight back like that against quality was pleasing. Can't underestimate the hawks' first quarter either - they were on.

I think you're being harsh on Hartigan, he was hard at it and had a lot of good involvements. Was playing on a very good player in Roughead.

Hartigan was also not awarded several frees which would have been quickly paid to any Hawks forward in the same situation.

Yep there running power is huge and without Jenkins still kicking 100 points is scary stuff. Plus we missed some easy shots if he had landed them probably would of won by 50-60 points.

Our premiership window is going to be open for the next decade thanks to McGovern, Laird, Cameron, Crouch, Atkins etc

Very interesting stat - 40 fewer disposals, and down on uncontested possessions, but still won Inside 50s 55-51. That's an excellent sign. If we aren't "dominating" we still generate score. Last year if we lost possessions by that much we rarely won.

Yep, frees 11 to 22 in favour of Hawks. As soon as we hit the lead they got all the frees. Although not possible, I'd love to see the stats on frees we should have got, but didn't get. I think as a whole, our frustration comes from so many inconsistencies of frees going to the other team, but we don't get them when the same thing happens to us. This is something that has no statistic and can not really be quantitatively argued after a match even though we all see it.

What is with the umpires hardon for Hodge. It's like he has immunity out there. Then when he tries to milk a free and they don't call it he has a little tanty. Says alot, how does someone get that attitude in the first place?

Sniper taking out one of our most important players for god knows how long.
Umpires, but are we really surprised.

Bad:
Slaone will get 1 or 2 weeks. Unintentional, high contact, with low damage, but crow tax will put that to medium possibly high damage.
Slow start

Good:
We broke the cycle. It was deja vu. Slow start. Small forwards cutting us up. Most biased umpiring in world sport. Yet, we managed to break the cycle and fight (hard) through that and turn the game around. They came back at us, time after time and we responded every time. We were tested and we passed.

Jacobs was a behemoth. Can't overlook that performance with no back up ruckman - even if he was up against inanimate carbon rod Vickery for much of the contest.
