I'm actually sick of AFL coaches, all of them, saying I didn't see the incident when anything controversial happens.

I wish Nicks stood up for the club and said yeah where I was sitting it looked like a goal and the AFL need to be better in the goal review space as it may have cost us a chance to play finals.
Hinkley definitely would have 😆

I mean he said he couldn't see it from where he was sitting but that a close call like that should be reviewed. That's the correct thing to say, it's not letting the goal umpire off the hook. The big mistake is not getting the call wrong, that can happen, the big mistake is not using the available technology to check.

Nicks would look like an absolute fool if he went off about a decision and it turned out to be correct.

The fact AFL players and Coaches refrain from publicly critiquing the umpires, basically kills the incentive for the AFL to want to improve the standard. I think a player or coach teeing off on an umpire actually make them think twice about guessing decisions. Which is what they do half the time.

It's a bit of light ribbing at all the fools that wrote Fogarty off after 30ish games only for him to come good
He's no star yet. Take Tex out of the side and see how he goes. He then gets the best defender every week. That's my concern. Tex will not go on forever.

Thilthorpe is Rory Atkins in a ruckman's boody, never seen a man that big so abjectly terrified of contact.

We really ought to take his draft year interview answers that he wanted to be a wingman at face value.

There just wouldn't be anyone willing to umpire if we criticised them publicly like we criticise them on Bigfooty.

Its a bloody hard game to umpire as they make it harder than it needs to be to umpire. I think an AI drone could umpire better than the shit we have to put up with.

At least AI would be impartial. Mind you, AFL House would probably engineer in some Vic favouritism given the chance.

There would be. Its a misconception. They just need to pay more. As long as we dont defame them. But you should be able to speak about specific decisions, how they were specifically wrong. If an umpire had a mare a coach should have every right to question the standard of umpiring. Its a weak entitled excuse by the afl who want to cheap themselves out of paying decent amounts of money for umpires.

Could Thilthorpe harden up playing down back. Darcy Moore couldn't make up forward but is a star down back. It's starting to get to the point of where do you play him.

If you've been to SANFL games or lower levels it's scary what umpires put up with. If the ferals at these games saw umpires copping it at AFL level they'd feel more justified.

Really making a play for the worst ball handling team in the comp to go along with the worst set shots at goal title, the handling errors (dropped marks, double/triple grabbing, fumbling) just totally unacceptable for an AFL team even in those bad weather conditions.

Really believe they need to look into their skills coaching development/training in the offseason, some players looked like they needed a pint of grippo on their hands to just hold on to the ball.

Single out Ben Keays for being the worst as soon as it gets slightly slippery/greasy he barely looks like he can pick up a ball let alone mark it in those conditions, I wouldn’t be surprised if he has naturally soft/slippery hands and that causes a lot of his issues even when it comes to his disposal, I know from personal experience I have shortish fingers and not very grippy hands and if I didn’t have at least some grippo on my hands I’d struggle a lot with my ball drop and my kicking suffered a lot.
