Interestingly Junior Rioli has requested a trade to Port. WC are not happy after paying his wages and legal fees for the 2 years he was banned and then supporting him when he resumed playing. You would be thinking that WC will be playing hard ball and will be after at least pick 8 from Port.

Id also consider trading next years first and something else (maybe 32 or the Titch pick) to the Suns for pick 7 (they have a couple of good academy prospects next year to potentially pay for) and go really hard at the draft this year with a view to building via free agency in the next few years.

I wouldnt be thrilled losing our back up KPF but im not sure he is in our Best 22 next year and our midfield is in major need of repair and if we can hit 5 very good players from two drafts (I rate at least Ward and CMac as this) it will pay off in a few years

If we really had our heart set on a top pick or picks we should have been looking to trade Sicily. Would have got some proper draft picks to rebuild the midfield. It would have been ruthless but it would have been better than the other options we had.

We would want 3 good first-rounders for Sicily so I see your point, but he is our best player. Plus he is apparently happy at Hawthorn.

IF we decided to trade him, and I think it would be a gigantic IF, we could persuade him to go by explaining that he is far more likely to earn AA honours playing somewhere else.

They presently only have 2,086 points which won’t be enough to match a bid on Ashcroft at pick 1. So, no, they’ll definitely need the third rounder if they also have to bid on Jaspa Fletcher as well as figure out how to trade for Dunkley.

You are right, he is not worth that.

Free have a history of paying too much in trades.
Anything to prevent West Coast from getting the players.
West Coast would be a much better fit for Jackson but Freo will probably Freo and shoot themselves in the foot.

Just goes to show how much easier it is to attract talent when you’re in the flag window. Our time will come again but in the meantime we gotta grind it out and keep building from the ground up.

Logan McDonald is considered a key forward right? He's 196cm

He's definitely not a rebounding Birchall type - he enjoys the contest - I think he's long term a definite Key defender -

Denver is only 20 - Brian Lake was playing as a forward and had a totally different surname when he was 20.

Providing he's not cut down with injuries - I think he'll be a key defender when he hits 23/24 and from there will go on to become an elite key defender - and one who will be in tune to our game plan and will have built up an understanding with the young but capable defence we have building.

I get the continual comparisons to the Croad/Hodge situation but we gave up two players and got back two picks including the pick that guaranteed us the best player in the best draft on record. If we were guaranteed Nick Daicos or Will Ashcroft maybe and even then its DGB for the pick not DGB and 6 for pick 1.
