Firstly, the "No Kane Cornes" Rule is back

I wonder if they realise he can go to psd and get to west coast? North won’t take him.

But then Freo can just offer two firsts that won’t be as good but Melbourne would still take at the death rather than have him walk for free. Of course they’ll sabre-rattle to begin with. I think they’ll get two first rounders out of it whichever team he ends up at.

Yeah quite likely. I personally don’t think any ruckman is worth that. Maybe gawn good f a bit younger. That is the price you pay for a kpf, and they are much more valuable than a second ruckman who plays forward ok.

He’s a free agent who would only be traded for because Brisbane don’t want to compromise the McStay compo pick they need. It’s not a matter of what I want - teams won’t s**t on each other in this scenario so we’d get a token late pick as a result. Apologies if being realistic doesn’t indulge your ‘omg let’s play hardball!!’ tendencies.
Hahaha OK mate is it OK if we ask Brissy to supply the lube?

The Dees are after Grundy and the Pies have an interest in Tom Mitchell, are we able to get involved here to get pick 2 and give up pick 6 as the framework?

Then shuffle picks to balance things out so it is acceptable to all parties.

You’d have to offer a shitload more than 6 and Tom Mitchell to somehow get Pick 2 coming back to us, because you’ve got to give two clubs reason to feel that 2 can’t land with them.

We may have to.

Can’t see us getting anything other than a 3rd or 4th round pick if they have to trade.

But the North fans said he wanted to play with Clarko…

They’re very invested in Logue too. Would be funny if he also nominated another club.

I know I’m apparently out of line for even discussing this topic - but it’s weird to me that people don’t see the Lions holding most of the cards and having a Gunston acquisition as a low priority in a scenario where they are bringing in Dunkley as well as two well regarded F/S picks. Dunkley and Ashcroft will be far more important ins for the Lions than Gunston - even with them losing McStay. They are tall enough as it is - Gunston would be cream on top only. Dunkley and Ashcroft will be crucial for their midfield post-Neale. If we went in demanding a second rounder they’d just cut their losses and tell us to, rightfully, **** off. Also he can walk to any other side pretty much for free and we get absolutely nothing. If the Lions give us a late pick we’ll be better off than any other scenario where he leaves so you cut your losses and move on.

SO If Gunston and Brissie decide not to go down the FA path and take the trade path, should a trade not be beneficial for both clubs?

What do you think would be a fair "TRADE" price for Gunston, considering the buyer apparently offer 3 years at good money?
Future First and send back a third round pick this year. (Help them with points)

To be fair, Clarko once said the only reason he kept coaching in 2008 was Stewy Dew. We can't expect anyone to keep up with his sheer gravitational pull.

Ben Long was taken with one of the picks in the JOM trade.
So was Hunter Clark and there's talk of a trade there.
As was Brodie. Traded.
Duursma part of the Chad trade. Talk of leaving.

It's all coming full circle.

I don’t think offering a 3 year contract on good coin to someone would be considered low priority. I’m not saying that we should hold a gun to there head and say give us your 1st rounder, I’m just saying that if the FA option is not taken and they want to trade then it should be beneficial to both clubs.

If they get say pick 20 for McStay as compo would we be “being dickheads” about it to ask for that pick 20 for 24 and Gunston going back to them?

Beneficial to both clubs I would of thought!

Cant hurt to ask.

I’ve done the sums, the ancient Mayans predicted this would happen.

Two first round picks for Jack Gunston confirmed

That’s a 127 point slide so effectively worth pick 62 which is what I’m saying we would roughly get in any trade.

So 244 pages into it - so who are we actually targeting to trade in (outside bruhn which we may have missed) and trade out (outside Mitchell and the repetitive pick 2 posts)?

Why? I don't understand why we must give him away. We want him to stay. The team he chose cannot bring in a free agent. So, they trade. Gun player on a 3-year contract on decent money… I want the McStay compensation back on equivalent next year… They have upgraded McStay to Gunston.

Because Brisbane would laugh and walk. If McKenzie gave away a late first/early second for a 31 year old player you’d be calling for his head. That kind of pick is what we paid for Gunston 11 years ago.

Finally, I can rest easy knowing all debate and drama will be settled by the brilliant analytical mind that is SOS.
Give him his due, was one of the better commentators on Trade Radio. Not the biggest endorsement in the world but still.

That actually works for us them we keep him!

They are in the window and need to fill the McStay gap.. Unless they have another forward who can step in and 40 goals they need him. (he played 16 games this year and kicked 32 goals)
