Firstly, the "No Kane Cornes" Rule is back

Not sure I can fit ‘you have unrealistic trade expectations for a 31 year old free agent who has given enough to the club and has been through a lot this year’ onto it.
Yeah but have you considered we should play hardball though?

Ned Ryerson can you make that new sign about the compo?

I think every third post is going to be the same thing.
I think some of the posts are referring to what we’d get in a trade (compensation)

It’s a bit like those posts saying we have pick 7

We’re getting Amon as a free agent so no compo for Gunners
Bris bane also might not want to lose McStay compo so they’d trade.

Outside of a final a few years ago he hasn't really shown anything.
I reckon he’s shown enough to think he can be a good forward. You got to think when he plays for Melbourne he’s nearly always behind Brown, Fitish (not sure if that’s how it’s spelt) and McDonald. But when the ball is kicked to him he seems to always give a good contest.

He’s still working the kinks out of his game

A guy his size should slay them at VFL level but I don’t think he does.

I doubt he has played many games with Brown and McDonald in the team. He is normally the number 2 option.

He has spent 7 years on a list now and his best goals return is 19. His best averages for goals per game is 1.4.

If just simply giving a contest is all we are looking for we can stick with Kozi going forward.

We barely played Howe, Pup(sub) or Kyle.
Flip, Jack and BB were injured for the majority.

Of that list T Mitchell was a regular.

I’d be pretty confident that only he will appear in our top 15 of the B/F.

Why is it we are spiralling backwards?
Assuming we bring in 3-4 early draft picks, I can imagine based on what we’ve seen this year that at least a few of them maybe all will be brought in early to get games into them.

So realistically, our best 22 will be possibly 50% made up of guys in the sub 30-40 games zone. On top of that, we have lost significant depth, so instead of bringing in a Howe, Phillips or Hartigan with inevitable injuries, we’ll likely be bringing in more kids.

I don’t think it’s a spiral backwards, but it’s a bigger rebuild that mid 00s when you look at the numbers; 30 players in 24 months. And we don’t have priority picks this time, nor multiple additional first round picks for average players like Hay and Thompson (thanks norf).

I think it might be one step backwards to make 2 forward.

Remove the famous last name and the high draft pick would anyone have any interest in him?

If his name was Bob Smith taken at pick 77 who has never had even an average AFL season and doesn't dominate VFL level after 7 years would anyone want him?

No leverage and no reason to play hardball - he lost his dad at only 64 this year. Bid him farewell and wish him all the success next year at Brisbane. Will miss him but it does mean more opportunity for Serong to develop and who knows, maybe Jeka can be tried again forward next year??

It's not all doom and gloom

I was kidding with that comment, we lose him for next to nothing and it sucks. I hate it but you can't do anything about it so you move on.

I understand the parameters. I am just amused by those frothing at the mouth demanding we hold a knife to the throat of the Lions and demand a second round pick etc.

Mr Bond was mocking those who are suggesting that we go all commando on the Lions.

We're likely to be one of the worst teams next year if we lose best 22 players in Gunston, Mitchell, McEvoy and depth players in Howe, Shiels, Phillips and Hartigan. I'm all for it though, can't imagine anything worse than being around that 12th-4th placed team for an extended period of time.
I think we could go close with the double chance.....

No to taking on Geelongs rejects who have been in the system for several years now. Too inconsistent and not worth a list spot.
Reject?

It's not like he's been plodding away at Gold Coast. It's been a good side he's been trying to crack in to, he's young and plays a role that we currently have a lack of depth in.
