Firstly, the "No Kane Cornes" Rule is back

I feel the hate directed at McKenzie is pretty over the top. Half of the people getting mad at him would have been just as mad if he refused to entertain lowball deals and didn't get them done.

So, we traded a Brownlow medalist for a player who can't get a game plus a packet of chips. Meanwhile, Collingwood get the Brownlow medalist plus pick 25 and Geelong gets Henry. Then we trade O'Meara, a player we sold the farm to get, for a ruckman who can't get a game plus a packet of chips. Did the club elect to tank the trade? Not sure I've seen anything like it.

It looks grim, but let's see what the output of Meek/Stephens is before we sharpen the pitchforks for MM.
We've got impact on this draft and next from all of this, next years draft could be amazing, we're very good at finding players with late picks.
Let some water go under the bridge.

Success of the period will depend on the club's ability to trade up with the 40+ selections. If it consolidates into the top ~30 then it's defensible.

Well...

Out: Mitchell, O'Meara, Gunston

In: Stephens (Geelong), Meek (Freo), Pick 41 (Pies), Pick 48 (Gunston), Pick 50 (Pies), F2 (origin to be confirmed), F4 (Bris)

Not great... but if it's Norths F2 that's a big plus, and if we can parlay Picks 41, 48, 50, and 52 to Brisbane for them to boost their points this year (maybe then get 34 & 35 / future picks) - that would actually be a decent outcome.

Well that is pretty disappointing. Gave up two of a our best players that still have plenty of footy in the them for some fringe players and picks in the 30s, 40s and 50s.

At least we will be in the running for the number 1 pick next year.

His value is not close to 16, he has been in the AFL for 3 years and barely played a game.
He missed his entire first year with an ankle injury and his 2nd season was injury interrupted too

This is his first full year of football in the system.

Two average battlers that don't improve the senior side (for now) and multiple late picks that haven't improved our draft hand.

The only way MM redeems himself is if we make moves on draft day. Unfortunately this is going to be an extremely painful wait until then.

What is wrong with some of you. We needed to move on from both Mitchell and JOM. We haven’t won a centre clearance in 3 years and both can’t dispose of the ball at all! Clubs weren’t gonna give up anything of substance for them. Cooper Stephens is a fantastic get. Cats loved him. He will start in our midfield. Future second is gold next year. JOM prob has3 years left. Geez
Nice attempt at some PR spin, Mark
