Firstly, the "No Kane Cornes" Rule is back

Are hawks unlikely to play hardball if Gunston wants to go (irrespective of lions FA position)? it’s not what we do (unfortunately). They’d throw us a 3rd rounder and we’d prob take it.
(Edit - meant unlikely not likely)

Hard ball, how?

Horne-Francis is not happy at North.
North have not fallen in love with Jason.
They could use a reset and take picks 1 and 6 (plus a young key forward in Kosi) in the draft to start fresh.

Our pick 6 this year + Koschitzke for JHF
Tommy Mitchell to Carlton for their 2nd rounder this year, approx pick 26
Pick 26 + Worpel for Geelong's first rounder this year, approx pick 18
Free agent Amon
Free agent Buddy

We add Buddy, Amon, Horne-Francis, pick 18 best mid or forward, and our second rounder - maybes Lawrence son of Lawrence to the list for 2023.
Would love to have Buddy and Amon somehow. Rest could be tougher.

Kane Cornes saying Gunston to the Lions, doubt there's anything there but let's entertain that thought.

Lions wont grab him as Free Agent as it would kill their McStay compensation, would open the door for us to be in prime postilion to negotiate a deal for their first pick.

24+Gunston for their Future First.
Kane cleared it up. He didn’t hear Gunston to the Lions he read in Friday’s Herald Sun that their Moneyball article suggested as a hypothetical that Gunston would be a good fit for them.

Don’t like listening to this rubbish Gunners is a Hawk legend that needs to continue guiding our kids/club …….. imagine if he gets another! At the end of the day it’s up to him but he looks happy
It’s his decision whether he stays or goes, but as yet he doesn’t have a contract next year, and we’re clearly open to all possibilities regarding getting more picks.

He is a free agent. If we do get Amon in then we get no compo if Jack leaves.
I know this. It depends where he would potentially go, as a side like Brisbane for example would rather trade then lose their compo for McStay.

A downfall I have is reading into stats too much. Seems to be kicking goals lately and is young. Key forwards take time to mature

Just curious if you read stats from another source than I do? Schache’s goal kicking stats in the AFL this year are 0, 2, 0, 0, 2, 0, 1. He’s had two bags in the VFL also for the entire year - he’s not exactly setting the world on fire.

Don't reckon we should acquire Schache, but I wouldn't be surprised if we did go for him or a player like him as a short term ruck/fwd option.

The latter absolutely. Don’t see Schache filling that need though.

This is the hypothetical thread, so do not shoot me. This is just a hypothetical.

We have Sicily, Blanck, Frost, DGB and now maybe Jeka as key defenders. Plus Hartigan but he might be finished. We cannot fit them all in.

Sicily is our best player. A gun, a playmaker, a matchwinner, just entering his prime. Our most valuable asset. But maybe, just maybe, we could cover for him, and gain somewhere else from a hypothetical trade.

Gold Coast have lots of picks this year. A first rounder (8), 3 2nds, 2 3rds, 2 4ths. Plus they are about to lose Rankine and gain another top ten pick. They have a heap of young talent, and would love a ready-made player.

What if Gold Coast offered us two top-ten picks for Sicily, (4 and 8}? Potentially Tsatas and Hollands / McKenzie as well as our own pick 6.

Would we consider it?

Sicily literally just put pen to paper on a new contract a month or so ago after being a free agent where he could have gone anywhere. We're not going to trade him now.
