And surely we cant do a salary dump why would we need to we have plenty of money and we dont look to be spending any of it
I think people are implying a reverse salary dump - we give a team struggling for cap room a player they dont have to pay for. They give us a better pick than that player would be worth to compensate us.

Only team I can think it works for is GWS who have so many picks they wont know what to do with them but also no cap room to be trading in players.

You may not get a deal for JOM next year ...this might be our best time to take the deal.

I couldn't possibly see a situation where we trade O'Meara and Tom.

O'Meara played the high-half forward, part midfield role great this year. He was captain for a period, and is in our leadership group.

We are already losing so much leadership.

I didn't read it this way, but it surely could only be Chad if this is what it means.

If not chad, and not GWS maybe JOM to Sydney? They have pick 17 and just got thumped around the ball in the GF. Least at SCG JOM doesn’t have to run far and they’re stacked for youth.

Gee whiz if we could get a late first for Chad (even with all his salary paid) I am taking that deal in a second.

Chad these days is like an early 2000 grey import Japanese sports car (Nissan Silvia).

He still looks good but his best days are long past him, keeps breaking down, would be impossible to insure, can't get parts for anymore and very expensive to keep on the road.

In other words he is exactly the kind of car (player) you sell to some young kid (club) with a strict no refund policy!

If he refused to go last year he aint going this year. All roads point to JOM

Until I actually see something confirmed our trade period is feeling like we're the youngest sibling whose controller isn't really plugged into the console, but we think we're playing anyway.
All the other club recruiters talking to MM "Boy oh boy Mark you almost had that trade, next time try pressing the square button and the triangle button at the same time."

Once he has left the room "Aww isn't he adorable, he thinks his controller actually has batteries the little scamp"

(either tears of relief or tears of woe ! Every year I say I wont check out the trade thread... yet, here I am  )

I think I misinterpreted R&L’s post. It’s not a salary dump.

We’ve got someone leaving and we’re paying salary to get a late first back, ontop of Tom also leaving.

TylerDurden pointed it out to me, to be fair.

I read it as a salary dump from the Giants, but it seems like it might be the other way around. We’re willing to pay salary of one of our own to get a 1st rounder in.

Nope, you got it right the first time
