Autopsy Hawks fall short against the Swans - Rd 8 2020

For those saying the game plan is broken. We were running at 27% kicking efficiency in the last.

So is it chicken or egg?

My comments from last weeks game remain the same. We are unable to find cohesion, we're not confident in each other, we have little to no connection and we make some pretty basic skill errors.

Can't really play much worse than that today, and yet we lost by a kick somehow. At least we are closer to our next win.
Game plan should suit the cattle, if the cattle aren't up to it (vs an ordinary oppo side) then either game plan or cattle change.. can't defend both

I don’t disagree BUT...

The way Rampe used the football today - on angles to open up attacking options in the corridor - shows how pointless Sicily’s dump kick down the line can be. He needs to become more creative and offensive by foot. Dumping the ball 50m down the same wing invariably results in the ball coming back again.

Sicily is a much better kick than Rampe. But if no one is moving and we play this stagnant, boring, listless style then he only has one option.

So frustrating. We beat them around the ball and clearances similar to the gws game, bringing decent spirit but we’re just not going to win with how slow and safe we move the ball.
It actually kills us twice because we do it to protect our backline so we don’t have to defend one on one but now the other teams know they can play aggressively and even if they turn it over we likely won’t score because we just default to this defensive habit.

I posted this after the loss to Melbourne last week, and was criticised.

Who wants to have another crack today?

“I’m not sure of their respective contract situations, but I have no problem with the following hanging up their boots come November:

Frawley
Burgoyne (one season too many unfortunately)
Henderson
Stratton
Puopolo
Scully
Smith

Inject more youth and start building the team to seriously challenge in 2023”

I posted the same thing three times, twice had it deleted and a third time moved from the thread I created.

Get them all out. Just pointless having them in the side.

Yeah I mean something is wrong when Dane Rampe is singlehandedly winning the game off half back with his kicking and actual good kicks like sicily are forced to shitty contests down the line

You gotta be kidding me? I’m a glass half full kind of person most of the time but tonight’s effort was pathetic! We couldn’t beat a swans under 21 side and our skill level was horrendous. We were out coached, outplayed, outmuscled and made to look as slow as treacles.

That is not the problem though. Problem is that collectively the club has overated the list for the past three years and now we are in no mans land. We are not a destination club and sold the farm for players who simply have not delivered. I can live with all that so long a we don’t keep hearing the “ wheel will turn” bull

We need to draw alone through certain players immediately and start rebuilding the club. Seriously you’re playing playing two journeyman in Brooksby and Michington you know you’re in trouble.

Chicken egg schmeg, enough of the defending the club and stop treating us like we are morons, every hawthorn supporter knows what time it is
Nailed it mate - your posts are super refreshing.

This is year is the absolute worst year for that pick.
I feel it’s a bit more open this year- minimum footy played by under 18s, we may pinch a gem.
attitude needs to move away from playing the old brigade. Look to youth and the established players that can lead.

In 2004 Richie Vandenburg was laughed at as an AFL captain, no doubt looking back he was the right guy to be leading the club to the next phase. I’m not sure I can say the same thing about the the current one, although he has still been a brilliant Hawk.

So is that a no to the bet he will be delisted in the next twelve months?

Or are you just having a Lend?

If you think he has shown more than Dowler then surely it’s easy money for you?

Happy to bet any amount you want.

I literally said 2, maybe 3 times already, that you may well be right about that.

But Lewis' footy last year was a mile better than Dowler's entire career. I also said he was a mile off that this year.

So you are banging on about a bet on a completely different issue than what you've been debated on :drunk:
