Re: Herald Sun | Stories start here and shit

Reporting facts isn't their core business, reporting sensationalised stories to sell advertising space is their core business, manipulating the politcial landscape comes 2nd and accurate reporting with facts is a distant last on their list of priorities
and when they make a mistake their apology is wirtten in minute script at a bottom of the corner page so noone can see or read it. unlike the mistake which can be at times a half a page.

Re: Herald Sun | Stories start here and shit

I like Robbo.

I think he expores the human side of footy, and is good at what he does.

I do remember though, that he was the first reporter to run with the 'scandal' last preseason, and I hope that he was big enough to learn something from it.

Robbo reminds me of Bolt that I'm not convinced they don't both share the same hair stylist (cousins out in the shed with the buzz cut and a comb) yes they're in the business where their opinions are their primary form of income and yes there will be times where they hit the proverbial nail and it resonates with the readership and communities, but a vast majority of the time, they just need to STFU and take a step back.

There is so much damage that can be and has come out because of these blokes, because of the people who came in before they did and will be for those who come after, we don't need expose's or dossiers to make humans feel human.

There are far too many justifications prompting means when it comes to such instances.

Re: Herald Sun | Stories start here and shit

Robbo reminds me of drunk uncle you have that you're not sure whether to invite for Xmas lunch because you know he'll be loud, obnoxious, say the wrong thing, pinch the wrong chick in the wrong place, get too drunk, yet is also quite entertaining for all the above so you decide to invite him anyway

Re: Herald Sun | Stories start here and shit

the World must be right for the herald Sun reporters again

mmm and we just thought it was our love of the Saints that made us seem biased
given even they had interviews with the Lions last week
and had reported some time trialls etc,
and it having been common knowledge that atleast 3 of the 'Melbourne" teams were known to be back on track LAST week.( BTW the saints were back and Players noted it Last wednesday)

Colingwood are FIRST:confused::p:rolleyes::rolleyes: pfft...
as others have said all is well with the world with another loverly article today about colonwood, buckley and how wonderful they are.

intersting that this report had no problem suggesting that 'things were muddy' about decisions at Collingwood re their ' leadership'

In a somewhat contradictory press conference, Buckley, said he expects his players to act according to their leader's examples.
Although in Shaw's case, the waters seem a little muddied.

not just the pie party line

Re: Herald Sun | Stories start here and shit

It's common knowledge that we are amongst the least media friendly clubs in the league.

I hope our football department and off-field staff recognise that and make the most of the opportunity to do something about it.

I've always found Robbo to be one journalist that has always been quite supportive of our club.
HS are average at best when it comes to truth and facts.

Robbo is a friend of the saints and a bloody good journo.

he's the one you stand in front of when things get a bit heated who always backs down once you suggest he start it.

Re: Herald Sun | Stories start here and shit

Robbo genuinely likes Milney. Surely the only journo in the universe.

...and dared to bring up the chanting last year, given it was v Collingwood, he did it knowing it wouldn't make him popular.

I love this:

St Kilda Statement regarding last nights cancellation: http://www.saints.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/5315/newsid/129999/default.aspx
The St Kilda Football Club has this morning decided not to formally request the awarding of points following the cancellation of the Club’s Round 2 NAB Cup game against Essendon in Wangaratta on Saturday night.

The Club felt it was inappropriate to assess the circumstances surrounding Essendon’s non-arrival from Melbourne.

Herald Sun run with: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/essendon-st-kilda-clash-in-doubt/story-fn7eccwx-1226288130816
ST KILDA will demand the AFL deliver it the four points after Essendon failed to show for their NAB Cup clash in a rain-drenched Wangaratta.

Herald Sun must be reading between the lines...Or maybe a mysterious 'source'?

Re: Herald Sun | Stories start here and shit

One version of that stupid rag had "Saints fiddle" on the back page!

It was then changed to actually point some blame towards Essendon.

Sounds like someone was fiddling.

The Age just went with "Windy Dills".

Re: Herald Sun | Stories start here and shit

HS shooting themselves in the foot. Will only be touching now when google news loops me through the hole in the paywall.

Re: Herald Sun | Stories start here and shit

What do you mean? I can still access Hun reports without a hassle.

The Team Season Previews are locked out. You need to sign up for an access pass (first 2 months free!)

Sheahan's top 50 is a lockout also

The Age has never had such a spike in traffic

Just shows a complete lack of understanding of cyber-economics. Narrow-casting advertising has been proven to be the best, if not only, way for media-providers to make money on the internet. People will not pay. They just won't.

You look at St Kilda and wonder: is it the glamour girl who's past her prime or has a facelift restored her vitality?

Certainly, there wasn't a lot of glamour about the 2011 Saints.

A poor start, a mid-year meeting and then winning eight of 11 games coming home to play finals.

An amazing result, really, considering "Saints footy" had become soft footy.

Stanley ... heads a list of youngsters who will be given games.

Jack Steven and Tom Ledger will play on-ball, Arryn Siposs will play at both ends of the ground, Tom Simpkin is a promising tall and Ahmed Saad is likely to play Round 1.

The big names will continue to pick themselves, as will the likes of Clinton Jones, David Armitage

:confused::confused::confused:

Im sorry but if Jones doesnt fix his kicking and skill level then he wont be playing games this year, cant afford to have someone with such horrendous effeciency in team. Armo is interesting one, wouldnt say he is walk up start like Robbo is trying to say, def needs to build on last year to cement a walk up spot.
