Then why didn't Geelong become a dynasty with Patrick Dangerfield, Fremantle with Nat Fyfe etc who were Martins equals?
Tom Lynch was the missing piece for that Richmond side. Another reliable goal kicker to partner Martin and Riedwoldt (noting in 2017 they were relying on a career year from Josh Caddy to provide that third option).

More likely it’s not the old man’s first rodeo. People always coming up to him and wanting to talk about Jack - he’d be used to it by now.
He’s trolling ol Feenix, and I’d bet he says the opposite when a pear fan asks the same questions
He’s the only guy on here ever proven to have a real source (repeatedly) within the top table of club decision makers. I’m pretty sure I know who the source is, and it’s a recognisable, crucial name in our trading and pick management.
He predicted (on record) well before anyone (media or here) the Brad Crouch outcome, pedlar & rachele draft picks and our interest in Dawson.
I believe his connection to his source may have now been severed. But he has been the exception that proves the rule - the rule that no one has sources
Tom Lynch has been a massive disappointment for Richmond, pretty hard to give him all this undeserved credit
Because Martin is better than both of them, especially in finals.
Check how many times he's been BOG in finals. it's something like 80%.
He’d need to be absolutely dominant for another few seasons.Imagine averaging 24 touches and over 3 goals a game in 3 grand finals. Just stupid.
Is he the best ever? If not, what does he have to do to become it?
8 years out of the finals is pathetic Carlton territory. We can't accept that as a target. The rebuild is going to take longer than people realize. I said 2024 is potentially our first finals. I think realistically we may push hard and just fall short, 2025 is long enough away and long enough time to hit another 3 drafts well in our rebuild.
Im not disagreeing with this, however, we didnt officially begin our rebuild since the end of 2019.8 years out of the finals is pathetic Carlton territory. We can't accept that as a target.

I'm not sure it's different. He’d need to be absolutely dominant for another few seasons.
You could make a good argument for best finals player, but that’s a very different thing.
First sentence wrong, second sentence right.
They brought in Tom Lynch and won 2 flags out of 3 years. He was B.O.G in their 2019 prelim to get them into the Grand Final.
When you win 2 flags in 3 years, there are no such things as "massive disappointments".
There certainly are. He’s just about their highest paid player, I think it was $950k per year and he’s a shadow of the guy who looked a superstar at GC
Patton?Meh. Helped em win 2 flags in 3 years. Worth every penny.
Ya reckon the Bulldogs think Patton is a massive disappointment?
Theres no such thing as paying a player too much if you win the flag.

would they have won the 2019 prelim without him?You mean Boyd, and he won them a flag and was the difference maker
Completely different to an underperformer who was recruited into an already flag winning team
I’m not seeing the argument being put forward in favour of the player’s performance?

Yeah I've definitely heard more than enough on Danger being from Floggs Creek.Because Dangerfield became the dynasty and not the Club.
For a town I could give two f**ks about, Moggs Creek has become like the centre of the AFL world at times.
I want Lukosius if he develops as a forward this year. But not at 900k. Not even close. We should be throwing 900k a year at Luko.. forget Rankine.. we got Rachele who will be better than Rankine. we need Luko big time
We might have to overpay for him... cos deep down i think he ends up at Port if we dont come to the party with a lot more $$$$$I want Lukosius if he develops as a forward this year. But not at 900k. Not even close.
If Port are going to pay North of 700k he can go there. We might have to overpay for him... cos deep down i think he ends up at Port if we dont come to the party with a lot more $$$$$
Getting one up over Port isn't really worth overpaying for a player, IMO. Offer him what we think he's worth, and let him go where he ends up going. Best case we get a handy player for the right price, worst case we make Port overpay to beat our offer. We might have to overpay for him... cos deep down i think he ends up at Port if we dont come to the party with a lot more $$$$$
