It's fairly sad state from a supporter's perspective. Come the start of 2023 season it will be 7+ years we have been waiting and waiting not such Danger left have one had someone remotely close. If have some hope with Pedlar but I can't stay the park and he is not a big bodied mid eg 188+cm. There were others still on the board I would have taken at 11 ahead of him.
That draught we went all SA kids outside of Berry (I'm glad we didn't do that in 2021). Pick 11 is basically a top 10 pick so I wanted us to take a broader look.

Soligo has played 14 or so games and you can tell he won't be lets see when he's got to 50games butters wasnt elite that early and id say his stats are similar at this stage of his career and berry maybe also

Guys, please. Take your Crows coloured glasses off. While Soligo is tracking well. You can’t say he’s going to be better than Butters, who has proven he’s an out and out gun with runs on the board and a high ceiling he’s yet to reach due to injury.

Soligo stats are actually better than butters at same stage butters 14.2 disposals soligo 14.6 so how you can say he cant be elite has me baffled

As good as Soligo was in his first year, you’re forgetting how damaging Butters is. One of the most damaging/craftiest players per disposal in the comp.

I think he'll easily be better than butters. Butters is being overrated.
I don't get the love for Butters, I may have a skewed impression of him because I only like watching the powa when they are getting beaten. And he goes missing against the better sides. I think a lot of the Butters love comes from the powa positive media talking them up. Yet I have seen Soligo keep up his output even when we are getting beaten. I am so bullish on Soligo, just does some of those special things naturally that 150 game players don't pull off.

Surely there needs to be royal commission into the AFL over GC trading with Geelong
Here's some of the lopped sided trades and side trades that facilitated other trades
2011 Geelong receive picks 32 & 34 from GC for pick 26
2017 Geelong receive pick 19 compensation for Motlop so it could go to GC as part of deal for Ablett
2019 CG trade future 1st pick 15 & 64 to Geelong for pick 27 so they could get Sharp. That 1st then come part of the Cameron deal
2020 Geelong receive pick 27 from CG for Mel 2021 3rd round (pick not used)
2022 GC trade Pick 7 and Bowles to Geelong who gives a f**k what was returned

Butters is and will be a good player but I think Rozzee, Butters and Dursma have benefited from the hype as a collective group rather than individual performances at times. The Vic media just roll those names off as they are not familiar enough with other players.

You do understand that having more certainty about Butters was precisely my point?
We have fans that still say that his body of evidence leaves conclusions speculative, but don't qualify their declarations about our own players based upon a fraction of that.
I didn't call that, I said that we can't currently project him there.
And we can't.
We need to stop pretending that every later pick that shows signs will become a league elite when its never been the case for us to date. The strategy is flawed.
Shop at the high end of town if you want quality.

Butters does some pretty amazing things on a footy field and I agree hes a talent..
But I also agree with others who say he goes missing when guys like drew, pepper, boak and wines are getting beaten by their opponents.
And thats where Soligo looks better.. soligo has all the talent, skill and poise of Butters but he doesnt go missing when his team mates are all down and getting beaten.. Soligo did it this year as an 18 year old in his first year in a bottom 5 side.. not like Butters whos been able to shine in a much better performing list..
And this is the sign of a real gun player.. one that, even when all his team mates are down and is playing in a garbage side, still shines.
I reacon soligo will be better than Butters.

I'm bullish on him as well and ''special things naturally'' we don't seem to get many players that you draft and he just looks like he belongs at AFL level from minute 1 when he steps into his 1st AFL game. He looks a complete natural out there a couple of other players that come to mind from the get go in the first season is Rich and N Daicos.
