King has been frothing at the mouth this off-season. Hilarious after he got so chirpy about Clarkson.

He’s sprouting Nth should hold on to JHF.

The point overlooked with Rankine is he wants to play in front of crowds. Can’t do that at the Suns
Didn't they paint faces on the seats at metricon for the crowd effect

Have a look at the attention JHF has attracted in Melbourne this year. Far worse than anything I’ve ever seen in Adelaide. Disgraceful how they went after him over there

Careful.. you'll hurt the Victorian's feelings when you spit facts like that.

Perhaps he should take a holiday overseas for a while before he had a mental breakdown...

Being smart is different from being ruthless. If we go flat out and look to burn GC because we think we can it can hurt us long term, lets say Rachele chooses GC at the end of his contract and GC are at the position of picking first in the PS. Why would they even think about negotiating with us. Being ruthless has to be the most over rated term in trades.

How’s it the most overrated term with trades? Being ruthless is getting the best for your club in trades, you look at the top teams and how they got trades done.

Rankine is out of contract and has chosen us, teams in this situation have little to no leverage. Especially with trading of future picks why wouldn’t we start off with next years pick? Or splitting pick 5 with someone to get multiple picks and trade that on?

We’re dealing with the Suns who screwed us over with Lyons, we are dealing with a team who’s offering pick 7 to take Bowes contract….

So offering pick 5 straight up is being smart?
There’s literally zero chance a gun of ours would chose GC.

I'm really excited about Rankine.
Especially when, after 5 rounds, we push him to the back pocket so we can fit in Murphy and McHenry...:p
Well we do need to replace Brown now he has retired lol.

You never know they may need to offload Lukosius in 12 months time so we had to be reasnoble. If the deal is as reported then I'm okay with it.

Oh dear god

If supporters are squabbling over the unresolved talent that is Rankine, one can only imagine the discussion over Luko, who really hasn’t shown any development at all. Heck he hasn’t even appeared to have developed that much physically.

Why would a knowledge that we're easy marks encourage them to do anything other than exploit that?

People can put up as much draft highlights as they like, his ‘talent’ and ‘potential’ before being drafted was excellent, but his time at GC has shown only glimpses of that talent, and it certainly hasn’t produced any consistent form.

If you’re coughing up Pick 5 you want it to be for someone who ticks all the boxes, and he doesn’t. Cerra for example went for Pick 6, is a bonafide midfield gun that got traded to Carlton off the back of a brilliant run of form and DID tick all the boxes. Rankine nowhere close.

A lot of people on this thread trying to polish an absolute turd of a trade.

Worth less than his draft position in what was a much better top end draft …Imagine what he will be worth when he hits near his potential

Agree …. Don’t really see Luko as an important target . Sure if he was desperate to come you’d look at it but not too fussed either way

Just wondering what you think Ollie Henry (Pick 17) and Tanner Bruhn (Pick 12) are worth in individual trades, mate?

Only been with their clubs for 2 years each, and both arguably have more runs on the board than Rankine.

Keen to hear your thoughts!

(Here’s a hint, Geelong have just offered, as their starting point, Pick 38 to Collingwood for Ollie Henry)

Henry is worth 14-18 , Bruhn similar

I’d take Henry above Bruhn but like them both

Collingwood won’t go close to doing that deal
