Re: jake King investigated by police for allegedly threatening to kill a Melbourne man and his famil

why is it only in 1 paper?

also the story is lacking so much evidence

Im not sure what evidence is need for the police to apply for an interim intervention order, but they must consider the evidence they do have strong enough to warrant a submission

If it is granted ( the article does not infer that it was)then king may have a case to answer .

Re: jake King investigated by police for allegedly threatening to kill a Melbourne man and his famil

you need a fair bit of evidence for an intervention order there not given out to lightly my lawyer got one for me straight away on my ex but she had hard proof and the court gave it not the police. if its true jake is in abit of trouble but if it was true you would think it would be splashed out all over the news. not sure though im only in my first year of doing law

Re: jake King investigated by police for allegedly threatening to kill a Melbourne man and his famil

What would be the likely punishment if proved that this has happened? I'm hoping it's not.

a suspended sentence, it would all depend on the nature of what was said and what proof the guy had. eg . text messages recordings of what jake has said and stuff like that, youd need to know all the facts as they take everybodies case differently.

Sorry Angel but you don't need much or even any evidence for an AVO, all you need is a magistrate to believe the claimant. It's intended to be easy to get it's after all a protection order. Infact I've seen plenty given with 0 evidence. What was well intentioned and designed to provide women with a means of leaving abusive partners is unfortunately used as a bargaining tool these days in divorce settlements. "Want to see the kids?" Settle quickly AVO dropped..

That doesn't mean you didnt have just cause Angel, but they are easy to obtain.

that is true in a way i think more women seem to get one out on a male than a male on a male, the courts are funny in that kinda way. and alot of women use it to easily. when i got mine i had to have 3 lots of serious proof my ex was threatning me and my daughter and then the police would give me one the judge overruled and gave me one straight away. like i said everybodies is different. you don't know when afl players are involved though the family could just be out for making some quick cash and though you beauty and provoked him. i don't know and im not judging as i dont' know the circumstances.

Yep I wasn't trying to make light of your situation either :)

Regardless of what happened, it's not a good look for the club, and I hope they take a hard stance on it, even if he gets off and was innocent the whole time, you still have to suspend him for getting in trouble with the law. The Essendon bloke was suspended for being in with police (And also drinking, but still)
I say you have to suspend him till' some legal desicion is made.
I read on The Age.com that you can face up to 10 years for a death threat.
So, I think the club needs to know and sadly, put a punishment on Jake very fast. Surprised he's still in the side.
I love Jake too, don't get me wrong, I hope it's all a big misunderstanding.

You're gonna be busy twooth if you pick up every error in the H/Sun! You'd have to take the month off work! It even said former b&f winner. There's no such thing as a former winner, once you're a winner you're always a winner. Jim Stynes isn't a former Brownlow Medallist!

yep and thats why the tigers are flag contenders, since we won flags in the 70 and 80s. ;)

Not only is that stupid, but it's also illegal. If somebody is innocent you cannot impose a punishment based on it.

I swear someone has pointed the bone and put a curse on our club...former umpire glen james time to take ther curse off please...

Re: jake King investigated by police for allegedly threatening to kill a Melbourne man and his famil

10 years for a death threat... **** me...

Unless he had a gun to their head this is just stupid.

Thats just a deterrent to the act.

No one who has even put a gun to someones head would get anywhere near that. Jail is not close to likely for Jake but sheesh not the type of player who will ride out bad publicity like others will.
