Toast Jamarra Ugle-Hagan - Welcome to the club

Yeah, I'm just not convinced Wallis' 3 goals total against North Melbourne and Essendon earlier this year was foreshadowing a sudden assault on the top 10 of the Coleman with 2-3 goals a week that would have been the harbinger of a Bulldogs run to the top 4.

Also, JUH didn't even play in the Port or GC games you mentioned, and I assume the reference to Sydney is a mistake because we won that game. I don't think there's much merit to any of what you're suggesting about Wallis in the context of this JUH thread.
He kicked 1 against North. The point isn't to compare the 2, start a process inspection of what happened in which games by either or whether it was a win or a loss, it's to illustrate the consequence of continuing to play an under performer, not selected on merit, when there are proven performers who get results not selected, read posts 2,305 and 2,307. The continued undeserved selection of Ugle-Hagan has gone on far too long and has arguably cost a place in the finals.

JUH didn’t play in two of the four games you referred to and we won one of the other two. Bit of an oversight for your process inspection.

If you can’t find myriad issues before “Wallis should have been playing over JUH” this season then I’m not sure you’ve been watching the games.

...
Everyone who has gone to a game live this year would see the amount of leads he gets burnt on. I suspect the keyboard warrior who seems to have a problem with him here watches his football from the comfort of his lounge room and doesn’t really understand how a forward line works and the dynamics to which create a good one....

Pardon my presumption but I only comment upon games I've attended, note that all forwards get "burnt" on leads, concede having a less than infallible understanding of forward play but note the position in which continuing to play a key forward who hasn't earned his spot has left the Club this year.

Regards
Your friendly keyboard warrior

JUH is not going to improve much having three no-hoper VFL defenders hanging off him every time he goes near the ball if we play him in the state league.

He will improve steadily if played in the seniors and we just have to accept that his output will be variable (particularly if he keeps being ignored by the midfield.) He will have some breakout games soon...he almost has had several already.

He managed a bag of 6 once in the VFL, a few more like that won't do his confidence or development any harm. He's not doing that in the seniors ergo not earning his spot, to the detriment of the Club's chances this year. Various Posters have been anticipating these break out games all year, they haven't happened and almosts are too costly. It's become the resurrection of that old primacy of individual over club mentality that had disappeared during the Wheeler era.

By the way, thanks.

Yeah you’re fighting a losing battle on that one boys, the dinosaur has genuinely nfi about footy at the best of times and you’re never going to convince him that Jamarra should be in the side over the conveniently white skinned, blonde haired and blue eyed Wally 😂
I don't mind the idea that a player needs to earn their place in the team. What I do mind is the silence on English being gifted games early and McComb, Scott and Hannan now.

Hardly silence on McComb, Scott and Hannon, thread after thread. Less so this year but English has had his critics, too.

More than happy for him to earn his spot over better players if said better players are available. If next year we end up having Naughty, Bruce & Lobb then he will have to fight for his spot which is fine, right now there’s literally no one that would be doing a better job than him anyway - the fact he’s had to draw as long a bow as Wally to try and justify his non selection is the funny part 😂

Hands up all those who've ever won an online argument...

I just keep typing on Twitter until my opponent falls asleep, then get a couple of hours sleep in my mum’s basement before I start again at 8am in between taking calls at my office job

There comes a time when excuses aren't enough, we need results, not resentment, and that was weeks ago. The forward line needs forwards who kick goals, not those who may in the future.
You've obviously got issues with Jamarra, and based on your comments from a while back its pretty obvious what the biggest one is. All that aside, its pretty difficult to kick goals when you make good position and are ignored

Yes they all have their critics. Often they are the same people giving a consistent opinion on merit based selection.

Strangely and most pertinent to my previous post these critics don't include yourself.

Winning? Losing? Adjudicating discussions for binary outcomes is immersing oneself in trivialities when we are amidst the most consequential changing of the forward line guard the Bulldogs have seen since Luke Darcy's inclusion as a wobbly legged 20 year old in 1996 caused us to tumble down the ladder at a rate of knots. People forget now, and can be easily mislead by the documentary, but there was not a single trouble that afflicted the club that year that couldn't be traced back to young Luke's inability to kick bulk sausages on the reg.

I've never seen you post one single positive comment about JUH so there's clearly something going on under the surface here.

He's improving. He's hit double double digit disposals in his past 3 weeks (after never doing it before) and has taken 8 contested marks in 3 weeks. He isn't massively impacting the scoreboard yet but it's only a matter of time.

I'm not seeing the quoted posts, but was in a PM discussion earlier with another poster who alluded to this inference too. Is this really the line being run to omit JUH from the team?!

Ah, TiAn, you whacky funster, you; 'tis the frustrated contrarian in you venting. We get the Contrarian Schtick but it's really you pulling our legs all the way down Bourke Street, isn't it.

If erring against the view Mitch Wallis missed out on his career year because of a nefarious pro-JUH plot to return the club to the dark days of individual above team qualifies me as a contrarian then I'm subscribing to the wrong newsletters.
