Jason Cripps lives in Vic and it's Port's list manager
He would be the exception not the rule surely? The list manager is a vital position at the club I think they need to be around the club observing the players, meeting the coaches etc.

Posted this on a PM to some other members re Gallagher. I thought he went ok, but thats just my opinion.

We had massive holes in our list and age demographic when he got 5 players in.
2019
Paddy - success to help Roh
Butler - success as a small forward
Howard - success, we had Brown who quit in 2020, Howard is rarely beaten by the monsters
Jones - injury prone and the least successful of the lot
Hill - bady used, if Lyon platys him correctly we will still get value. Not Gallaghers fault how he was used.
2020 Crouch FA. Well negotiated and called Adelaides bluff
Higgins, set to explode by the looks of him.
Alison was a bust selection by the looks.
2021 - NWM. I would have taken Hobbs especially if he want to go home. But he is a quality player. Not difficult to select Windy and Owens but still needed the points to get them.
2022 - went hard at DeGoey, would have had him if we had sacked Ratten earlier I reckon, anyway, trade period ordinary, Cordy, meh but giving away Clark and 9 for 3? If we had Phillipou @ 2 on the board, we would have wasted Clark. Not great
Van Es
Hotton
Keeler all very good choices.
Others like Wood, Wilkie, Sharman have been good mid season choices.

All in all he has been pretty decent, however it is time to move on. Complete the re alignment of the admin.
Funnily enough I got some good goss about degoey and coming to the Saints.
One of my mates was on the plane with him on the way back from Bali about a week ago and he was openly talking to passengers about this stuff.
He said he 100% thought he was going to St Kilda because Collingwood were not coming to the party. They came back last minute and the deal got done.
I thought it was interesting as I thought he was just using us to drive up his price.

Club seems to think, Not
Exactly. If we rated him he’d still be in the job. There’s no way the list build/strategy was given a big thumbs up after the review.

And therein lies the problem.
To be fair there’s only so many good list managers around and the good ones are genreally employed already.

I’m addition our last list good manager was Ahmedt Bains who had no experiance and is now head of the Dogs. It’s the type of thing you need to risks on or promote others from other clubs.

Probably had a similar success rate to Gags but with better picks

Not rating and under performing/under pressure are 2 different things.
Anyway it's much for muchness as he's gone and it's for the best as I would hate to have our list manager working from Adelaide.

Yeah seems like it but hard to say for sure given the circumstances. Could say he wanted to quit and go back home or could say he wasn't good enough, not sure personally.

He stated that he wanted to stay in the job and do it from SA

Hmmm I think his job was more trading etc.

Ie Steele , Bruce, Skunk and some good trading of picks here and there
He held the same role as Gags.

We are giving him credit for being much of a muchness.

I agree Gags needed to go. But I wouldn’t be raising my glass up for Baines

Oh I didn't read it. Could be the club wanting him to be local and physically at the club so got rid of him? I can see both sides but don't know for certain

Yep, you can say exactly the same thing as assistant coach Ben McGlynn. Wanted to go back to Mildura.

Had issues with Ratten so packed up the family and thought it wasn’t worth it

His last job was working for the MacQuarie Bank.

We pull him out of total obscurity to manage our playing list. A billion dollar industry and our club has its playing list run by people with "limited" experience for that role.

Yup makes total sense.
Absolute nonsense. 40 games with Adelaide, 200+ games with Norwood, a decade in finance.

So a football person who can manage finances - perfect background for the Head of List Management position.

Theres only one question to ask to work out whether he did his job effectively or not - Is our list in a better position now than what is was when he started?

My answer is categorically a big big YES.

And your answer is?

17 years in finance I believe

That's not what I meant by much for muchness, what I meant was whether you think he's good or not I think it's best the list manager works at Moorabbin so in that sense the argument is much for muchness.

In my opinion he has done a good job and wish him well in SA.

Yeah it was a disaster not recruiting Dylan Shiel

I'm still waiting for the "Gags is a Dud" crew to come up with any real evidence that his tenure was a disaster.

I think the sacking might be a bit of a hint. I think he's gone down because one minute we were rebuilding, then topping up, then recruiting youth again. Misreading where the list was at cost him his job. He wasn't the worst we've had by any stretch but he wasn't getting it right.
