I think the league needs to bring in 4year minimum contracts for draftees or just go back to zones.
I disagree.
Professional clubs just need to get professional.
Imagine being stuck in a sh*tshownfor 4 years.
Imagine being a genuine mid and being stuck back in the queue at GWS when all they did was keep drafting high elite mids.

Funny how no one gives a * when players from GC, GSW and even SA clubs request a trade home but when it happens to a Vic club, there's an issue with the draft and player power.

Tanner Bruhn is going to the premiers after 2 years ffs. That's all fine and dandy.

Berry won’t be elite. Too soon to make that call on Soligo. Do people know what elite actually means?

Do you think Laird is elite?

He isn’t, just like Berry and Soligo probably won’t be. Berry’s kicking is average, you don’t become an elite mid with kicking like that unless you have incredible abilities otherwise.
You have esp ? Berry and soligo maybe god they are not even 50 games into their career and you say this how the **** do you know

They will struggle to make the 8. Horne will cover losing Amon, Boak and Dixon are a year older and declining, they are a good chance to lose Georgiadis to a WA club this year or next along with likely needing to give up a player such as Butters to get the Horne deal done. if it's just picks then it's going to take 2 firsts this year and their 2023 first for North to consider the trade. Their list is fairly average if you go through it.

Not so sure about this. They were one of the better performing teams after round 5. I’d put money on them to bounce back into the top 4. I’m one of the few on here that really rates their list.

There was a bit of media push back with Rankine.

But yeah this will be another level.

Taranto and Hopper to Richmond, all good.

Elite probably means A+ grade. Save that for the Bonts, Petraccas, Dustys etc

I’d say Laird is an A grader, though. As for the ceilings of Soligo and Berry, god knows where they end up, they probably don’t end up A+ grade but they’ll both be very, very good at what they do

Yeah after 0 and 5 they went back to flat tracking.

Will flat track enough to make the 8 and allow Kochie/Richo to keep their man Ken.

PR the shit out of making the Eight after a terrible 2022. Ken lead them back.

Tom Boyd is the precedent for this exact scenario, and I don't recall there being much Vic Media hyperbole around his trade request, so will be interesting to see what the theme is here.

Still, not a great look when the previous year's number one pick requesting a trade home.

Surely there were red flags last year when they do all their psych testing etc?

Their list is on the last leg to contend for the premiership, after that they need to rebuild their backline, ruck and forward to some extent (not sure about Georgiadias and no quality small forward).

I posted last night how JHF was left to his own devices outside of playing and training.

I think it is more a case of North neglect over JHF's "issues".

If he went to a getter ran Vic club doubt he comes back home.

No chance at the top 4 but they could make the finals. I see them competing for the 8 with Richmond, Bulldogs, Carlton, Freo. Regardless of where they finish they are not even remotely close to geelong.

Given we offered 3 first round picks, including at least 2 that were expected to be top 5 picks, North will ask the Earth.
It will be first round pick in 2022 and 2023, plus players. North might look at Marshall, Bergman and/or Sinn.

Going to cost a packet, but will still be worth it.

I hope we approach North with a huge offer, just to up the price.

Difference is North weren’t expecting the head case they got, had they known they would have taken our offer.

Also it gets talked about as 3 firsts but didn’t we want their 19 back?

Yeah we really need to get that elite mid into the system this year.
We have needed that for 5+ years but I'm with you I don't want to wait yet another 12 months our long suffering fans I like our forward line (with Rankine coming in looks elite to me) and or backline is okay could do with a bit more but as long as either Butts or Murray don't go down we are acceptable but our midfield needs that big body powerful elite pacey mid now.
