I feel confident our midfield will stack up well against powaa or more importantly the league. We just need that tall explosive mid to top it off (Holland's) but Berry and Soligo are both going to be elite. We still have Schoenberg, Pedlar, Rachele, Rankine, Taylor who may develop into an elite mid as well.

Dustin Martin's kicking was bloody average the first couple of years as well. He worked out alright. I don't think Berry's kicking is poor, he's just generally under a lot of pressure when he's kicking most of the time. I feel confident Berry and Soligo will be elite but it's too early to say they won't be elite. Soligo has played around 20 games and Berry would have played less than 40. I think Laird is elite in the role he does. I would like him to use the ball better though but he is improving in this area.

Spot on. This is a disaster for us, our midfield simply isnt going to be good enough to win a flag at this point in time.

We may need to tank 2023 to get a pick at the pointy end to get one.

Agreed Kano just likes nothing better than clickbait. It is always going to be about satisfying Norf hopefully we could leave no stone unturned and come up with something more satisfactory to Norf than the mob down the road. I think if you could read JHF's mind he'd choose Port but I feel that the come home factor is the biggest thing.

I think the league needs to bring in 4year minimum contracts for draftees or just go back to zones.

4 Year Contracts though wouldn't change the JHF trade request ......JHF is already in Contract

Fact is Contracts mean very little .....protects the players only

I've said for at least 4-5 years .....if a player is in Contract & requests a trade .....the incumbent club, in addition to the actual trade, needs to be paid a penalty, for breach of contract .....lets start the convo at 50% of the value of the remaining contract period

That'll stop clubs chasing contracted players ......it will also stop players requesting long contracts, that only suit the players

Agree with this. They’ll be a very good players and form the core future midfield, but needing that high end mid talent. Rachelle/Rankine playing that 50/50 fwd/mid split will help, but we need at least 1 high end mid talent if we are ever going to go deep in September.

Soligo is a bigger chance of being elite, plays very much like a shorter Pendlebury in how he use the ball by hand and foot and general footy IQ.

With JHF out of the equation next year, we should now be pushing to use our 2023 first to get Rankine, and then use our 1st this year to take the best mid available. Bring in Rankine and say Phillipou this year and that helps us massively.
