Are GWS looking to use picks 3, 12, 15, 18 and 19 purely for the draft? Or do they want to get some players in via trade?

Maybe we could upgrade pick 33 or 43 for one those later picks and offer up Byrne-Jones or Bonner?

We genuinely need to trade away a player for 2nd round. Can't see it happening another way.

Hayes, Drew, Bonner, DBJ, Farrell. DBJ with most value in that lot perhaps as an All-Australian and club BnF although he was off it best this year. I know he just resigned but yeah either him or Drew

In all seriousness North have actually done fine out of this deal. So have West Coast. GWS showed up, bent over and handed over the lube to make it work for everyone else, and I salute them for it.
Yeah I think north have done well. What more can you hope for to get for a player that wants out than a similar pick + a future 1st on top. That’s a good deal.

Also west coast, despite people knocking them to get out of pick 2 and the private school vic boys and into hewett territory , whose not far behind, if at all those vic boys plus get another pick. That’s good for them.

Ports given up a lot, but the fact we get future 2nds and 3rds back helps a lot,

In the end rozee butters jhf Bergman sinn to look forward too in our midfield.

I really rate that group of players as a future midfield. High end young talent there.

We're at the front of the JHF queue, lots of cash for a big contract, lots of picks to get the deal done or PSD where we'll be ahead of Port to make sure he gets to the correct SA club.
Why would north want just picks? Any club that finishes bottom will have salary room, north could redraft him if an appropriate deals not found, I would if I was them. Minimum is a top 5 pick and really good player

More important than that is having a fair competition

Because it's not about players, it's about a fair competition for all clubs. You don't want to play somewhere you don't want to be? Then don't enter the draft
Yep it's about football culture that's unique to our game, father sons hardly ruin the draft as is, instead of point accruel it should be use of the same bid pick.

By what metric?

Btw Xerri doesn't attend as many ruck contests as he could so the hitouts stat is skewed.

On another note, I wouldn't want someone like Butters or Rozee because A. They are both hot or cold players and B. We have enough players in those molds. Give me a KPP
Hitouts, hitout win %, hitouts to advantage

You know.. all the metrics that matters for rucks.
Hayes is up in the top few in the comp for all these things despite only being a handful of games into his career.
Butters has the potential to be a star but coming off a poor 2021 he has been up and down in 2022. Some really poor games mixed in with some good. That is not yet a star.
He’s made an all-aus squad already and he’s still only 21.

He had a horror injury last year, he’s still working his way back from that and he’s still performing really well. He’s arguably one of the best players in the league his age.

Josh Ward or Josh Gibcus would have been an excellent picks for North, plus using two top 5 picks to use this season when it's an elite Talls draft. Would have been so much better for them.

JHF was a excellent pick also….. like generational good.

Hayes looks a player xerri doesn't look a footballers arseh*le, I'd play Goldy and ccj as the ruck back up

North simply cant let him go at years end no matter what even if he wont sign on and stays unsigned into next year. They need to back themselves in to try and get him to sign that extension even if means paying him a kings ransom contract wise.
We’ll back ourselves in. He hasnt played a game with Cunnington and Phillips yet, we’ll get better.

Before he got injured he was in all Australian form last year.

How can you say you have too many of that type of player, you have heaps of shit players at the moment
Lol what?? He polled coaches vote in 1 game before his injury. That’s not AA form.

And I never said we have too many of that type of player.

I assume the nearing AA form was referring to 2020. He won 2-3 very important games for us that year. Everyone just assumed he was going to have a breakout year in 2021 until he got injured twice. He's averaging 22 disposals this year despite not playing midfield as much as the guys getting 27-35 touches, 4.5 clearances a game despite the lack of midfield time. He's quick, he attacks the ball as hard as anyone. He might not have a 65m leg but he's as skilled as anyone in the 15-45m range. Anyone that doesn't think Butters isn't an out and out jet doesn't know football.

The only way north snaps out of this 23 year period of nothingness is by getting a few premium elite guys.

JHF was our best opportunity to do that. In that respect it’s better than two very good players. If it is purely is a wait and extract max value for the contract then it’s probably fine.
Will Phillips over Logan macdonald
all clubs make mistakes but that could be a whopper

Will has been out this year with glandular fever, which is terribly unlucky, but it's not like McDonald is tearing it up this season.

Our recruiting team has made a shit ton of mistakes, no doubt about it. But this take is so overdone and lazy.

And it might not. I wanted McDonald to be fair but considering Phillips’ health issues he really hasn’t had a shot to prove right or wrong

Our first .......

plus your choice of up to six of these players - Darcy Fogarty (pick 12), Elliott Himmelberg, Billy Frampton, Fischer McAsey (pick 6), Matt Crouch (AA), Lachlan Sholl (Dual Rising Star nominee)

You can add all 6 of those players and it still wouldn't come close to being enough
