I don't know what his state is, but he runs out there with a mentality that's a hinderance.

I don't know if it's instructions or what, but it's the same as last year under Lyon: all his possessions are at half-back and on the wing, easy marks and chips in board. it's pretty ineffectual. he's a big boy on very good money to be a forward target. it's either wasteful or they've got no faith in him.

you see him run around contests and he just tries too hard to get a kick.

which is a weird thing to say about someone whose biggest issues have been application and attitude and their dedication to their club and football.

he plays like an under 14 who's been in the back pocket, there's 10 minutes to go, and he's decided to use all his energy running around as a midfielder just chasing the ball and wanting to touch it. pure desperation. Hogan isn't making space, leading, or reading the player. he's being emotional and reactive.

the guy's single biggest footballing negative isn't really a footballing one.

but how do you give him confidence? dinky kicks off half back don't make your posture strong like kicking 3 goals 1 and setting up two more.
After the filth you said here back in Feb, you aren't welcome to post in this thread.

Bobby Hill is starting to look like a good player for GWS. Without getting out the tin foil hat, it's starting to look like a pretty bad decision to get Hogan instead of Kng and Hill. King especially looks like a damn good player for the next 10 years.

I thought Hodge said something relevant in the GWS game today who are playing 4 talls. They all tend to fly for the same ball and spoil eachother. When you have two of the top three for contested marks in the AFL in the forward line it leaves Hogan in no mans land within goal kicking range.

I’ve said this before (quite a few times in fact) the trade was:
Hogan + Bewley > King + Sparrow

Bobby Hill went 3 picks earlier.

I don't get it. Hogan played better than I thought he would against Richmond, provided outlet marks. Any dysfunctional in the forward line was a collective effort.
It was a good game for a key forward considering the opposition.
Yeah he was ok I thought. Something to build from.

We'd be moronic to even consider trading him, would be one of the dumbest moves we've ever made if we did.
Moronic might be overstating it, coz without seeing what the potential deal would be, you never know whether it might be worthwhile.

But in realityland, if Freo were to shop him around, you'd pretty much guarantee the return would be peanuts, especially from a ROI perspective.

If you're able to stand back and view it from a rational standpoint, he's still got massive upside. He just needs to play and get some continuity.

A player with his talents and his age bracket, let him go to work on the field if you can and manage the off field stuff there, where it's happening.

Hogan worked his arse off this week.

He lead well and if the leads were honored more often he would've had more like 15 marks than 8.

We keep playing him and develop the chemistry
He's a rarity in modern football, in that he seems to actually realise that you need to lead towards the ball carrier more often than just running back towards goal. Our mids and ball carriers should be trained to always be looking for his hit up leads as he'll usually be providing one somewhere.

Haven't seen anything yet to justify the trade or salary.

Sturt takes Hogan's spot when fit.
Hahahaha.... A one game star is Sturt ! The kid looks like he can play but will need time. Hogan is coming off the back of 2 navicular injuries, the first one Freo new about and the second they made an absolute meal of handling and diagnosing. Give him a chance mate to build back up to his best! Hogan kicked 40+ goals in his first year too... Who knows what's around the corner for anyone
