There was a time in history when we were known as the 'family club' and existed to win premierships. Golden rule - If it's not broken, leave the bloody thing alone.

No we are the UNICEF club who exists to provide foreign aid to North Melbourne.

I reckon this board would have been happy with an ad where Ken walks up to a whiteboard that has the words “You don’t defend, you don’t play” written on it, wipes out the word defend and writes attack...then stands back with a little nod.

Slow-mo shots :heavycheck:
Piano keys tinkled :heavycheck:
Jack Thompson-lite voiceover :heavycheck:

Emotionally stirring, my ass. That cliched shit left me completely numb. Feels every bit as fake and phoney as the club rn, tho. F@%king cringe.

I ain't from Port Adelaide, you from the Port, you Portonian booty-scratcher.

"Port Adelaide - proud of the past, pessimistic of the future!"

Felt more like something you'd show to a prospective sponsor than a hype clip for getting wavering members across the line.

If this wishy-washy fluffy-dovey branding of the club isn't what the SANFL's abortive hostile takeover of 2012 had in mind, it's in the ballpark.

This board would be happy with Port Adelaide resembling Port Adelaide and not being a gaping suckhole of smug failure for the past 4 years.

We Are What Terry Wallace Threatened To Spew-Up Over

Seriously though, his speech could word for word be translated to Port.

I don't know about you blokes but I can't bear ****ing losing a game like that! Look, fantastic effort but what does a ****ing fantastic effort mean? It doesn't get us anything! We don't get diddly squat! We don't get a point. They don't just give us something for just ****ing getting close! It means nothing. If you think that I'm going to be happy walking into this room when we get beaten still, we can't be! We just can't accept it! I don't know about you guys, but if I see one bloke walk out of here, getting a pat on the back from people out there for a good effort, I'll spew up! Because it's just not acceptable! We were a rabble in that first quarter, absolutely bloody disgraceful. Absolutely disgraceful. yeah, for three quarters we worked our asses off, we worked our backsides off to get back into the game, but the game is about 120 minutes of footy, and that was the most winnable one that we get for a long time, and we just pissed it down the drain. We absolutely pissed that game down the drain. Don't any one of you forget about it. Take away one thing from this game. You have the ability to play in this competition and to play it very very very well. We cannot go from that [hand gesture] which we've displayed right in the three quarters, back to what we displayed in the first quarter ever again. Ever again.

Go and have your showers, we'll see you back at the social club.

To be fair I don't think there is much that could have been done in that video to appease this board.

I don't mind the video at all.

Honestly, I can't imagine any single video the club could do right now to get us feeling all stoked though.

As a group we are (acceptably) disgruntled with a lot, so really unless the video was of Ken packing up his possessions to be replaced and then it ended with a shot of Lance Franklin and Dustin Martin being all "im coming home, to Port adelaide!!1!" while Margot Robbie slowly danced naked to the Never Tear Us Apart none of us would actually be happy. Even then it's a stretch.

The principles of polarity and rhythm states that negative must flow to positive in equal measure. 1954-1965 and the 9 premierships won during that time were counterbalanced by 1966-1976 and not winning a flag.

If you want dominance you’ve got to be prepared to pay the price first. It doesn’t just happen. When people decry guys like Neade, Sam Gray and Amon getting games, it’s because we don’t have anyone better yet.

And if you’re going to quote me, please quote the entire thing:

“It's just how long it takes to go from the consciously competent to the unconsciously competent that will determine when that is. But more important than that, we are setting up a system of success that will ensure that every player who comes to Port Adelaide is fast tracked along the road to a premiership because we will be giving them world best practices in terms of strength, conditioning, nutrition, fitness and game day coaching.”

The years were arbitrary.

Counterpoint: St Kilda. 1 flag, 27 spoons.

The principles are weighted, with the ones above overriding the ones below. The first principle of Mentalism and the second principle of Correspondence is the reason why they never won a flag. They neither knew what was required to win a flag or had the mentality necessary to win one. In order to break the cycle they need to bring in winners.

Look at West Coast - they bring across Sam Mitchell, and suddenly they do what they could not back in 2015.

I would hope Port Adelaide has the mentality to win a flag and knows what is required.

We need to apply the principle of vibration because it's the vibe.

Well that should explain why the gameplan never amounted to anything...if everything moves and nothing rests, if you’re not going to move to attack you therefore must move to defend all the time.

Counterpoint: Every premiership player-cum-coach who achieved absolutely nothing.

Oh mah gaaawdd - the slow mo, soft music and cringe voice over...even the social media department continues to dish up the same crap since 2013

You don't need a team of superstars to win the flag - have a look at the teams to win it over the last few years. Having an 18 team competiton has resulted in every club having these sorts of players but it doesnt have to mean they can never compete for the biggest prize. I mean, we're talking premierships here, but we can't even win a final in 4 years and it's not because of Jake Neade and Sam Gray.
