Ratugolea seems likely for season 2024. He was keen on coming here end of last year since he'd be playing more games as a KPD.
Don't think he'll play many games for Geelong this year since their forward line is full. He primarily wants to play back but Geelong see's him as a forward/ruck option.
As for McKay Im not holding my breath.. big factor Clarko he might influence him to stay.

Doedee as Jonas replacement?

Why?

I mean, he’s not really a Jonas replacement (he plays much looser) but ignoring that why would we bother?

He’s a decent but not outstanding player by the eye test and the numbers back that up.

0.6 contested marks
230m gained
1.9 intercept marks
7.7 intercept possessions

If you had him on your list you would be ok but why pay big dollars to extract him in free agency?

Especially when we’ve got sub 193cm defenders in pasini and McCallum developing and burton locked down for years.

I think he’s a quality player. Agree that I wouldn’t want to pay him big dollars.

If the crows are pushing him our for whatever reason, I’d offer him a deal.

I think everyone getting excited about Ratugolea’s size. But does he ever use his size. His a run & jump at the ball type player maybe suited as an Allir backup. Don’t think he has the defensive craft to go body on body with the big forwards. Dream would be Ballard or Petty but they are signed till 2025. I prefer Zerk Thatcher over Rat still think his body & defensive craft are building. Also good user of the footy. And is out of contract this year.

I'd be surprised if we're not heavily into McKay. A free agent to fill a defensive hole, with some real size about him is just a perfect fit for us.

A 2025 backline of Aliir, McKay and Pasini would be pretty solid, with Jonas, McKenzie and Clurey phased out this year and next.

Port board has a real fetish for anyone that's tall. Doesn't matter if they're no good, as long as they're above 195cm.

If mcentee was 195cm they'd be cupping his balls.

HUN: Melbourne’s secret weapon in its attempt to re-sign star forward Kysaiah Pickett could be an audacious bid to secure best friend and former No.9 draft pick Liam Henry from Fremantle. Pickett will be the most in-demand player across the trade space this year given a relatively weak free agency pool and his brilliant play across three seasons.

The Demons would like to secure Pickett on a deal of between three and five seasons, hopeful they can commence talks by round 1 which might be resolved by mid-season at the earliest. Pickett enjoys the company of his teammates and is happy at Melbourne but huge interest from rival clubs means until he is signed the Demons will be nervous about massive offers dragging him out a year after Luke Jackson’s departure.

Contrary to popular belief if Pickett did decide to move on, he would be much likelier to find a new home in West Australia than South Australia. He has more family in WA and has active interest from clubs including Fremantle, where good mate Jackson landed over the off-season.
