In general, the only players with any trade value are players you don’t want to lose
Or you hope another clubs coach values one of your players highly. We want something like another coach values DBJ the way Hinkley does, rather than his output. Pickett would be nice, but if we're trading Duursma, I'd be wanting it as part of getting a young quality KPD (with obviously having to put in extra as well), not a small forward, no matter how good.

I'm confident Bergman will be a really good player for us. Had a wretched 2022 with injury and then illness. If you can't see that he has all the tools then I don't know what to tell you.

I 100% disagree with this... Bergman is going to be elite A grader.

I 100% agree with you, Bergman has a high ceiling. But if you don’t have pick currency, the only thing you have to trade is players.

Strongly prefer to keep Bergman, but he has currency and is on a line that can be covered more easily.

The JHF/Junior trade was a huge move by port, but you have to pay the piper….

Fair difference between really good and elite A grader.

Plenty of blokes have had all the tools.

If he’s required in a deal for Kozzie I’m doing it all day every day.

So the rule in relation to trading future first round picks is "Clubs must make at least two first-round selections in each four-year period. If they don't, they will face restrictions from trading any further first-round draft picks"

2020 - Jones
2021 - Sinn
2022 - Traded out last year
2023 - Traded out last year

Given we have made two first round picks the last four years, can we not then trade next years first pick this year ? That would mean we'd need to make a first round selection in both 2025 & 2026 (Or trade out a player and make two selection in 2025)

You'd think out first pick next year would be the starting point, with a player needing to be added in to upgrade that future pick into the top 10 this year or package up with our future first pick to send to Melb.

Lots of players have all the tools but never put them together. Unless Miles actually puts them together on the football field this year, Melbourne wouldn't trade Pickett for two Bergmans, and rightly so.

Which is what I'm saying I think he will do.
And until he does, Pickett is worth significantly more.

If I offer you $100.00 or a scratchie that you reckon might have a prize of $100.00, which one are you taking?

Unless there’s fine print I missed nowhere did he say he thought Bergman was worth more, less or the same as pickett.

He simply commented on rating Bergman.

People can rate Bergman , or not want to trade Bergman without it being a reflection on picketts worth or trade value.
