Freo got pick 22 for Ed Langdon whos a reasonably similar type, and he was averaging 10 touches more a game than Bergman currently is and was in the top 3-4 wings at the time.

Polec we got 11 for but that also included Pittard and he was our best midfielder at the time.

Bergs seems like hes on a good trajectory and i’d love a great pick for him if he goes, but we need to be realistic

I was curious what Fremantle ended up doing with their picks from this trade. Is actually so much worse than pick 22.

If I followed the draft order right this future second rounder was traded to Adelaide and after bid matching this pick ended up as #38. It was used to draft James Rowe.

Might be a fairer system if the afl didn't give them any picks and at the end of each draft any players not picked, and happy to go, get sent up there

I really want the Iceberg to stay as he has been around the Top 5 or so for us for the year and continually climbing but if not, I hope we grab Phillipou and Keeler.

I really want to see him play in the midfield as he is kinda in the middle of taking off.

We might actually be able to do a deal with someone to get the pick that lands him.

Hypotheticaly we end up with 7 (it's a big if) and a couple of picks high 20s bundled to GWS/Hawks or even North.

Are you suggesting Port's end-of-season ranking of him would affect his value? Because I'd suggest every other clubs' list managers already have an idea of his value. They'd be watching all unsigned players.

I remember when Cripps talked about when they were tracking Allir at Sydney. It revealed how much work is going on all the time watching desired players and sussing out what it takes to get them.

When he was delisted and rookied last year no one batted an eyelid.

Plenty on the bandwagon now and many of those would have written him off and called for his delisting last year and even before. Most would have thought putting him back on the list was bad judgement.

He has had a remarkable turnaround since going into defence.

I don’t think they’re that similar except for height. Maybe some similar attributes like overhead marking. Bergs is far quicker, more defensive.

But yeah, if Bergman left and wanted to go to the saints we obviously would enquire about their Sa lads.

Whether we could have any shot at getting phillipou out I’m not sure.

As effective players West Coast loses that trade by a mile. Where they would each impact their new clubs' salary caps might make that answer a little more complex.

Personally I think Bergman is 100% gone. Really disappointing. Don't know where his GF lives, but if she isn't here in Adelaide, with this delay, I can't seem him staying. I hope I'm wrong but I think we need to prepare for the worst.
