We have 31 players out of contract this year and next. I think it's more of a puzzle which players fit best than cap pressure on any one player. The are endless combinations.

only time that will happen is after he re-signs for 2 years and comes into free agency. Like Parker, Dawson doesn't want to go to a club that isnt in flag contention. And especially to a club that is going through a rebuild, he just did that with the swans.

Unlucky not to make the AA squad. Excellent skills, (not just the kicking), plays with high Footy IQ and can play back, mids and fwds.
Confident he will stay on a 2 year contract. At the end of 2023 he will be easily one of the top 10 players in the comp. That contract will be a doozy.

Glad to keep him, just hope it was at the right price and that we aren't still paying him 700k in 4 years time

Interesting, we will need new threads but I wonder what happens to McDonald and Campbell. Not yet out of contract but it was reported on SEN that it's unusual that they haven't extend yet as that's the norm these days.
Swans can't keep back ending contracts forever. Even after buddy goes they will still have to deal with some of these back-end contracts (Mills, Heeney, Parker)
