Matt Scharenberg v James Aish 2 years on

The only call you can make us that Aish has been better, getting close to winning the riding star in his first year. Having said that club wise I'm sure Brisbane would prefer to have Scharenberg right now because Aish looks gone.

Probably not. Even if Aish goes he has shown enough potential to mean he will be worth a bit at the trade table. If he goes Brissie definitely gets something for him, probably a first round pick. Scharnebergs future is more up in the air with 2 major injuries since being drafted and has shown not much at VFL level so far. He is much closer to being a bust than Aish.

If Brisbane offered to swap Aish for Scharenberg I would do it in a heartbeat.

I agree and who's to say that Aish's form this year isn't due to behind the scenes Contract talks or want to leave. Like Polec, Docherty and Yeo he could improve his game tenfold should he be in a happier environment.

Why did I bother reading most of these mainly stupid comments?
Just hold your horses on both Scharenberg and Freeman.
It has not been good to have them injured, but what can we do about it? Nothing !!!
Just because they have been injured, does not mean they won't turn out to be good players.

No but it lessens the chances.

This is all a bit difficult to know without seeing our two guys fully fit.

I am pretty comfortable with the Scharenburg pick. For me he fills a need in our side and when he has built his confidence on that knee he will be one of our most important players. I don't expect anything much this year, but would like to see him get a taste this year. Aish is good but I don't think he adds all that much to us and as we have seen this year he is somewhat mentally fragile. Salem too will be a very good player.

Freeman is the tricky one, when you look at who went around him. Cripps, Sheed & McCarthy have all shone this year. McCarthy is the one in retrospect that would have been very handy, crazy to think Carlton passed on him too! KP players are hard to find, but we clearly wanted a mid. Sheed was one I really liked at the time and he is going to become a very polished performer, Cripps will be a contested ball monster, Freeman though potentially can be better than both, he has an inside & outside game with some question marks on his kicking. I don't think we will know what Freeman brings until the end of 2016.

I worry about how many question marks we have on kicking. Watching that dogs game this morning, we certainly don't need anymore poor users of the ball as we have that well and truly covered.

I love all the experts saying what they would do in hindsight. Yes McCarthy and Cripps would be good but at the time Schazza and Freeman were good choices (and are likely to still proved to be).

At the time I was keen on McCarthy and he would fill a need right now. But Freeman also fills a need we are badly missing. Genuine speed. You only need to see what impact Marsh has at times on games in The VFL to know what impact freeman could have.

So we can lament all we like, but these things should generally be assessed at year's 5 and 10. Not years 1 and 2. Only then will we really know the wisdom of these decisions. I am pretty sure in years 1 & 2 Daisy was way ahead of Pendles in most people's view. 10 years later who would take Daisy over Pendles.

and we are not a Overly Quick Side so we do need some Players with Genuine Pace

we didnt need Cripps. he is treacle slow. great inside but very slow outside.

Shazza hasn't played a game and he's already better than Aish who hasn't shown anything worthy of being a top 10 pick.

I reckon if we knew Keefe was going to take some party pills we would've gone tall with pick 10. But at the time we were ok for talls and needed more mids

i just watched the latest black and white show... the difference between marsh and scharenberg was noticebable. Obviously Marsh is a gregarious kind of guy... he spoke to a lot of people and has a pretty easy relationship with them. Matt looked introverted. His answers to the questions sounded like someone who had gone home every night and had little to do with his team-mates. He has a reputation for intensity and commitment and that might be his way. However, he looked like someone who had arrived at the club last week. You can read too much into 20 secs of video but I can see why people feel that he might go home...

If Schazz is really leaving we can probably get Aish in a 3 way deal which would be ironic

But I'd deal directly with Adelaide for Lever and failing that take 1st rounder for Weideman assuming our 1st rounder goes on Treloar

There's a difference about being introverted and hating being where your at. Look at how they described broomhead, Moore said he hasn't spoken a word to him and he's the locker next to him. That looks to be just how shaz is.

I would take Shaz over Aish any day.

I think Aish is a dud and nothing about his first two years have impressed me. To be a borderline best 22 player at the worst football club in the AFL really shows where he is at.

i think Moore was stirring a little.... playing on broomhead's quietness. Scharenberg was being honest. You can read too much into stuff like that but he just looked a little outside the group...

Here's another one. Have a look at the Dave Hughes video and watch Mason Cox's reaction. The rest of the guys were killing themselves and Mason was lost.

drafted hawk pretty much said that last year when the same talk was happening about Scharanberg.

Saying he was really Interverted Person who did not go out and Hang Around with TeamMates.

Though he was happy at the Club Though

Cox is a Yank so he could have a Different Comedy Tastes then Aussies do

Haven't seen a huge amount of freeman but I have never seen this inside game of his. Just because he is built strongly doesn't mean he ever uses it in a game. Seems more like he models his game on hawthorns hill as a link player.
