AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Anyone notice a trend:
Lloyd in early days - Lots of strong marks / keeping on his feet. Great form.
Lloyd in mid days - Diving / giving up easily. Out of form.
Lloyd nowadays - Lots of strong marks / keeping on his feet. Great form.
He is a champion......just dont drank call him and tell him you barrack for collingwood.
Any bloke closing in on 1000 goals is a champion of the game.
And no doubt he will be right up there with Dunstall, Lockett etc when his career is over.
He already is.
No doubting or arguing his talent. He will not get the outer's respect though due to diving and pleading for free kicks after every contest.
Why dont they play him deep in the forward line anymore? He was a great player and is still very servicable but my point is that anyone can chase a heap of cheap kicks on the wing.

Will not get close to Ablett, Dunstall and Lockett. These 3 are at another level and your bias is now showing. But hey I will compare Adam Simpson to James Hird if you like. Similar??

Couple of errors - drank call and the word champion.
Your Essendon player hatred is showing. Football experts compare him and rate him along side those players.
And thats about it. Yet another terrible call from the Essendon troll.
Lets compare crowd sizes if you like?????????
It's called the tall poppy syndrome... most Australians have this ailment, it's more contagious than the swine flu!
Right and who are these experts? Sheedy?? Knights??
So who out of Lockett, Dunstall and Ablett snr is Lloyd as good as?? All of them??

Compare yes, rate equal - sorry no.
Llloyd is the best (old school) key forward of his direct contemporaries. But there are a number of guys playing now I'd take in a heartbeat ahead of him - even if you could wave a magic wand and make him 25 again.
I also can't agree with those who've claimed he has been in the past, or is now, a truly damaging player up the ground. From the Essendon games I've seen he might spend time out of the 50, and pick up some possessions. Travis Cloke, for example, does that and probably just as well. Its when LLoyd presents within range of goal that he makes oppositions nervous.
Terrible call - I love watching Ablett, Buddy and Judd.
Good for you. There are plenty of people that don't like all 3 of them. The same people wouldn't even care about them if they weren't any good. Some people even hate players because of the team they play for (i.e. you). Calling them sad would be an understatement.

They hate Lloyd beacuse he is a diving dog. They only reason you could hate Ablett is beacuse he is a gun and cries alot. Love watching the greatest players of our game but Matty is not one of them. Hird yes Lloyd No. Sorry! Did Hird play for Essendon?
ROFL, Matty please don't slit your wrists, because the idiots in the outer don't respect you.
As long as his peers respect him, I don't think he will lose sleep over what the idiots in the outer think.
assumption

Reckon most of the competition does...without too many problems.
One thing I'll mention is captaincy and leadership. This is where he has come to the fore. He might not be kicking the bags of goals he used to, but, his leadership is bringing others into the game. How would someone like Zaharakis be feeling lining up next to captain up forward. You'd have to say that Lloyd's presence is engendering confidence in Zaharakis, as the most direct example.
That's why Lloyd is playing probably some of his best ever footy. Just by making it easier for Knights and the coaching staff to back the youngsters in each week.
