If Smack has agreed to a strategy to nominate for the PSD then we've been screwed again and if I hear our club stating they don't like the PSD threat then I will vomit.

To be honest, even if we had traded him, it would have been for a pick we wouldn't even use. We're only using 2 picks and we'd struggle to better our #46 with McKernan.

But we could have grouped that pick with pick 23 and then on traded that to get us into the high teens.

To who?

Who would give up a high teens pick for #23 and #46?

I don't know, that wasn't really the point. I guess we could have shopped it around to who ever needed it.

An example - Hawthorne may have needed it - 23 & 46 for 19

If Smack walks to the PSD, then he is just showing what a weak minded git a lot take him for. A player not up for a fight to get his spot back in the team would be a great asset for the Vic club that picks him up.

Maybe, if the player wasn't Smack. Forget about having a go at the club, we should be celebrating his departure and mercilessly mocking the stupidity of the club which talked him into going down this path.

Assuming it actually happens... right now you're just jumping at shadows and looking for an excuse to attack the club like so many paranoid posters on this board.

On your first point if it happens it doesn't matter who the player is no matter how much you despise him.

As to your second, that's why I prefaced it with If

Mckernan will leave the club and get picked up in the psd..He would have to be the most unpopular player at the club and a fresh start with supporters who support him would do him the world of good.
Unpopular with fans maybe, but not within the club. He's best mates with Sloaney.

Is that what you understood people to be saying about being more aggressive? Negotiate with a louder voice?
I believe you think that being aggressive means offering good players for high picks and taking chances in the draft. Or offering free agents offers they cannot refuse.
The problem is that we are not in America and it is against the law to chop horse's heads and putting them in people's beds.
Further more, unless the good player is surplus and he agrees to go, the club would be foolish to release or force him into an unwanted trade.

The one other way of doing it is to offer them more money than other clubs are prepared to pay. Unfortunately most sane people would only spend up to a certain amount for a player that could have been got with a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

What would you have said if the club had agreed to swap Talia for Polec? Because, with pick 14, that could very well be the player that port may miss out on.
Would we have been more aggressive if we had offered Talia up for a pick to get Polec?

You're saying this because of a myspace message back at draft time I assume. There isn't a lot of basis for it.

Sloane said it in an interview within the last month or 2.

Re Smack, it looks inevitable that he will walk. Would be interested to know what sort of offers, if any, we got at the trade table.
