Haven't heard The Run Home segment, but the article is very shallow, so belongs here rather than the JHF thread...

A kid not wanting to live in Malbun is a massive red light. If you don't want to live in the sporting capital of the multiverse you clearly have irredeemable character flaws and will never be very good at sports.
Also, Port Powers should have paid up three first rounders and zak butters (or equivalent)

Who cares what he thinks 🤷 his good m8s with King. Both were gushing over JHF rnd 1 this yr .
The Vic whinging about JHF is disgusting when kids return home early in there careers all the time and crickets.

I'm pretty riled up about the treatment of JHF is ****en disgusting what about mental health?
Kane has the platform and needs to step up as a port man and call this shit out and Dwayne for that matter.

Kane is just as guilty of that sort of 'journalism' as anyone else.

Kane isn't a Port man, he's a Kane man.

Good to know Daniel Menzel doesn’t rate our midfield too highly.

I don't think what he said is particularly controversial. I doubt JHF comes in and dominates straight away. Outside of Wines our midfield is potential not outright consistent stars. Lycett is the weakest ruck of the other 3 mentioned.

He’s probably right but it gives our guys something to work hard towards. The talent’s there. If Butters and Duursma can really break out this year, Rozee improve another 5% and Wines get back to something like his Brownlow form, we’ll go very well.

I was surprised by how good our forward line looks on paper when I did my best 22 yesterday. I guess it could be anything or nothing in reality given it relies on two fat small forwards who hardly ever play, 32 year old Dixon to stay fit and Georgiades to start kicking goals not points. Amazing that Marshall is now the only guy down there that you can really rely on to perform.

We need to develop a forward structure where Dixon plays deeper ala Hawkins. The hard running, up the field bash and crash stuff will end him. He's only 1 semi serious injury away.

Do you disagree?
I think he's correct.

It's not too bad - maybe top 5 or 6.

But..............
we would have to hope that JHF becomes elite straight away, that Duursma/Bergmann/Sinn/Drew/Mead elevate significantly, and that Wines/Boak/SPP play at their top. Also that we can get something from our rucks, and if Rioli/Fanta/Houston/Bonner/Farrell can take rotations through the midfield to help out.

Then we would be top 3.

If Hinkley had Hinkleyed and played Hayes through the end of the year, then I'd argue Hayes starting ruck with our mids could make a case for top 3. As it is we've either sub-par Lycett or rawer than he should be Hayes next year.

I get what you are saying, but the better fullbacks want Charlie to wrestle and not lead. He actually is at his most dangerous when he is on a lead and isn't wrestling.

But Hinkley has had his win territory at all cost, bomb it deep inside 50, Charlie will use his Herculean strength to contest the ball even if its on his head, and depend on little blokes crumbing it or picking it up off the ground, going for too long for Charlie to do much else different.

We certainly haven't seen the last of the one hand mark attempt/palm down to smalls in marking contest rubbish.

Well that's sad.
