Yep. Supposedly they said they'd have re-signed him if he couldn't be traded but it would've been for peanuts.Yeah pretty sure Carlton threw him on the scrap heap after having no cash left for him in the cap.

We truly are in the worst timelineLiking Matt Owies more and more with each day that passes.
If the rumours are true and, after a good season, he was told ‘sorry but our list mismanagement means we either have to cut you loose or bring you back on minimum chips’, then he has every reason to be pissed off. The Insta post was just PR management, the video the other day was an off the cuff response. He may regret it but it may just be a better reflection of his true feelings. Or, third option, he’s just having fun and making clear he’s an Eagle now and everyone else is the enemy. Either way, nothing really in it.
Or maybe give him a tent at fringe? Why are there no characters in football these days? Also he should be fired into the sun for daring to make a joke like that.
Got to love this time of year
Can 'perennial underachievers' Fremantle become WA's biggest footy club?
For 38 years the West Coast Eagles have been WA footy's alpha male, but in the midst of their worst ever on-field run, is the balance of power shifting towards their bitter rivals Fremantle?www.abc.net.au
Even if the balance of power is shifting (slightly?), and if they reach finals in next successive years - reckon we'll be hot on their trail before too long, on the charts with a bullet, and all will be normal again? But makes for exciting derbies, not blow outs.Talk about getting ahead of themselves. They didn’t even make finals last year and they’re talking dynasties.
