I wonder if Newman had done something else to earn his de-listing recently.
Must say I am surprised after all that time we didn't keep him on promise alone.
Dunno how to feel about this.

It doesn't say we are anywhere. On the Eagles site it says we will rookie Colledge and Waterman providing they are still available. All it says about Newman is he was delisted and Vozzo saying thankyou for their contribution.

I like these tough calls. Club is finally trying to shake its mediocrity when it comes to list development.
Some left field stuff going on...Really not sure on Vozzo but I guess Homer would have had a big say in it.
Yeah, cant find any mention anywhere of Newman being re-rookied.
There is a video on the website saying they will look at Tunbridge and Newman for the rookie list.

You can, but that only happens when a player has already been on the rookie list for 3 seasons at which point if you're not elevating them to the senior list you're forced to delist them. If for some reason you still want them you can re-rookie them...but Newman had only been on the rookie list for 2 seasons - there was no reason to delist him if you still wanted him as a rookie.
I'm struggling to think of any player that has been delisted from a rookie list outside of those circumstances, only to be re-drafted by the same club later that year.

I think in reality none of the six mentioned are going to be part of a finals 22 or even make a small contribution to our season proper. McGinnity will get a few games. Lucas a long shot. The rest with the inclusions of Redden, Jetta and Duggan coming back are no chance to see the field.
Shit even Brown is an unknown and he would be best key back in a few of the bottom teams.

I reckon this also sends a message to some of the other younger players on the list. Perform and push for senior selection, or may you find your happiness elswhere

Yeah thought this was weird too. What Kane Lucas provides over Newman I struggle to see.
Hope Newman gets picked up somewhere else and forges a career. Even if it is in the purple.
Either Waterman looks like he could be crook for another year or we don't rate him.
The talk of loading up on young mids again in the draft makes a little more sense now.

Not sure how Rioli is the giant leap up from mediocrity you are hoping for.
He is predicted to go late 20's (at the earliest) in a draft predicted to flatline early. And until draft combine where he excelled, he was not predicted to even go that high. Everything I have read on Rioli suggests he is a very raw talent, and certainly not guaranteed to do much at AFL level.
