The stadium upgrade is not the issue. The talk about small and the crowd only comes about because of the 62,000 snouts. And I'm not concerned if you get offended.

Didn’t say I was offended. Just a choice use of words.

Im still trying to figure how Adelaide will adjust. They spent 78% of centre bounces with at least 1 extra player behind the ball. Is one preseason going to be enough to work on their 6-6-6 structures? Hard to say if it'll have a telling impact but you would think clubs who play them early will be able to get a good run on in the first quarters. Likewise Richmond who started with at least one extra defensive player 73% of centre bounces. North perhaps a bit less so.

The "other" category is a raffle. Were teams playing 9-5-4 or 6-5-7? The percentages seem significant enough that they could have been extrapolated further but elected not to do so to save space (my reasoning).
The Crows weren't dumping players back as 7th and 8th defenders. They had attacking forwards and resting midfielders attacking off the back of the square.

How does what you say contradict what I said?
It's pretty simple to understand that it's not going to be difficult to give up attacking players off the back of the square. The focus will move on to how they can use the new rules to their advantage. The teams who will have problems with the 6-6-6 structure are the teams who relied on putting a 7th or 8th defender back to fill space in the defensive 50 to stop opposition teams scoring.

Go back and read my post.

I read both of them. It's obvious that you assumed the Crows were playing 7 and 8 defenders based on the AFL stats posted. It's why you said things like "I don't know if one pre season is enough to work on 6-6-6 structures". It's more than enough time for the teams who had attacking players coming off the back of the square.

Youre either trying to build a strawman or have comprehension issues that cant be addressed here.

Amusing. I'm not surprised you don't directly respond.

"Im still trying to figure how Adelaide will adjust. They spent 78% of centre bounces with at least 1 extra player behind the ball.".

Cant see where I said you were playing an extra man or two in defense as I was commenting on your set ups at centre bounces. I also noted that 15 other clubs spent a lot of 2018 working on 6-6-6 set ups whereas Adelaide didnt.

I can explain it for you but I can't understand it for you.

So you think teams are going to struggle adding that 6th forward back in to their system ?? Going to clog space ?? Teams with attacking players off the back of the square were still playing with 6 defenders. This is what you refuse to acknowledge. And 15 other teams were never working on 6-6-6 set ups. No one knew what the rule changes would be. Most of the trials through the back half of the year revolved around only 3 or 4 players required to start in the 50 metre arcs. And only a few clubs were involved in the trials.

"Hard to say if it'll have a telling impact" - from my original post.

Given how defensive youre being I would say youre a bit worried. Do you understand that those "attacking midfielders starting on the back of the square" wont be there anymore? This is how Adelaide generated their forward 50 entries from centre bounces. Through momentum and press of numbers from winning the clearance. Its why Jacobs having a poor 2018 compared with 2017 impacted the Crows fortunes. 6-6-6 changes your set up entirely and Adelaide have not rehearsed it much at all.

It will be interesting to see how Adelaide adjust and whether the rule change has noticeable effects.

Likewise, I think Richmond will feel the pinch moreso with the new kick-in rule putting their pressure forwards at a disadvantage. Perhaps the recruitment of Lynch was to address this. Be interesting to see how quickly they set up after a behind.

I'm not being defensive and I'm not worried in the slightest. I'm excited to see how it looks.

We did play 7 defenders a fair bit. In previous seasons it was Zac William's, last year Whitfield we preferred to keep unaccountable. Not to say they dont have to defend at times, but generally dont have a man like Laird would to run off.

I think someone like Perryman will just spend more time in the midfield and less in defence. The centre bounce set-ups have to change a bit because the few seconds matter. All clubs have the off season to sort that out.

I love your optimism. It’s actually amazing.

But honestly “I can’t see how he can be fired” he literally had the worst year in 120 years last season. This young exciting list could be just another pack of jack watts, grimes and trengroves. Bolton unless he stars winning is gone

Exactly, even with a terrible season, the club has stuck fat with Bolton.

Proof the Blues are staying the course, and backing in the coach, strategy and process to return Carlton to the top.

It's a genuinely exciting time to be Blues fan

Bolton was always going to get a decent run at it. But if this year is anything like last year especially with the brand of football that was on display last year he will be in trouble.

You might win 4-6 games and everything is swell but im saying theoretically if no improvement is seen then he will have a lot to answer for.

Melbourne was the last team to have a two win season and that was 2013. Roos came in and 2014 we win 4 games and improved % from 56 to 68%. We were still rubbish but had definitely improved, and kept going up from there. If Bolton can’t replicate something similar with a list that has significantly more young talent than 2014 Melbourne he has to go.

Lindsay Fox made it worth his while

You all crack me up. What do you actually know about this time? Retirement package... Lindsay made it worth his while... reality is, he left Carlton because he did not agree to the reason they sacked the president George Harris, he was in his prime, had just captained/coached a grand final WIN, he had every club after him. He is an incredible man who only deals with loyal and genuine people, and Lindsay is one of them. So, he chose St Kilda. Still has many a friendship from a club that has always struggled but clubmanship was amazing. Get your facts right before commenting. Love how everyone pays their membership and knows everything. Idiots.
