An weirdly finishing second gives you the easier prelim aswell if it all goes to script
Yeah, last year was a funny one. Port the weakest side in the top 4 who just had some late season form. Dogs fell apart but were certainly the second best team last year, and Brisbane were a bigger challenge than Geelong.

Haha and to think we were a quarter of excellent footy at the cattery away from finishing 3rd

Yeah, say we lose that game. I'd back us in to beat Port, the next week they play GWS and likely win.

Cats/Lions is a funny one, both sides horrible track records in Finals but probably back the Lions to get it done.

Means we get the winner of a Geelong/Dogs semi, likely the Dogs get up and we play the Dogs a week early.

Then Port v Lions at the Gabba which Lions are winning easy.

We probably still win the flag anyway.

I think we would've won the flag either way too, but the nature of that win was so important, plus it being Geelong down at Geelong, what a ****ing night that was!

Just went on with Essendon being made scapegoats bullshit from the drug saga

Lol

Robbo during the drugs saga was all time. Just a complete nuffy.

Gotta lol at the "Sack Rutten" calls I've been hearing. Overachieved in his first year and now having a poor follow up. Sacking him now would send Essendon back 5 years imo. Good thing we signed Goody up to a stupid deal after 2018. We probably would have sacked him if we didn't.

I've made this point on the main board but the notion of Hird coaching again next year is actually insane to me. Even if you want to forget about the drugs saga, that he ignored the warnings of the club doctor and persisted with such a dangerous program, imperrelling the health and safety of the young men in his charge. His coaching record is average, he's been out of the game for the better part of a decade, only this year becoming an assistant coach at the Giants part time while he moonlights business dealings in Europe.

He would be less qualified than every other serious candidate for a coaching role. Any club that appointed him would be out of their minds.

This same fat campaigner who calls for players to be suspended for Ill timed tackles just blabbed on about how Dylan Shiel should have taken Luke Parker out for his sledge

Pick a lane and stay in it you fat campaigner

Lol, love the nuffy comments about how mean Parker is because he (rightly) called the Bombers squibs.

Lol at Dyson Heppell having a cry on the couch about Lloyds comments. Basically they don't stand for giving away free kicks, 50m penalties and goals.

Not surprising they suck as much as they do, too concerned about playing nice footy and not with winning. Giving away a free kick out of principle is the right thing to do for sure, mind this is the club that had 30 tackles for the game

Essendon, the type of club where they sing the song after the game if everyone had a good time. Results aren't important. Its about smiling and having fun.

The Essendon Auskickers

He was getting lauded by Brown for 'fronting up' but I honestly thought he came off pretty weak in the interview. A lot of excuses, a bunch of cliches, making out that it's not as bad as it looks. Even if what he's saying is true it doesn't help the Bombers cause at all to put it that way.

Wish the club's would let the players just be hurt, used to shit me to no end hearing Grimes or Green or someone like that talking about how it's a process, we are working hard, we won a quarter etc. As meaningless as it is ya just wanna hear the campaigners say it's shit, I'm over it I'm hurting etc.

Isn't it weird in an age where your feelings are accepted as a reason for shit performances that you have to hide them in certain situations.

Pretty shithouse captain to be honest. Seems very much a bloke who is mates with all the players and they like him but I'm not sure how much they respect him.

Just adding on to that, I think Gawn is a bit like that in some ways but he also commands respect when he needs it and he is supported by strong leaders like Viney and May.
I think the respect for Gawn comes from his work rate and effort, his actions do the talking, he'll go back with the flight, he'll keep working all game. Viney and May will do the grunt stuff, knock a player over, make a stand type stuff.
