Ultimately Carlton have beaten what will likely be the 12th best side in the comp this year in Richmond.

With that being said I'll tip them to knock off the Dogs, who may be a touch underdone (Bont, Daniel, Dale all in for scans during the week), with Bailey Smith already out.

Tldr on Joey I can't watch that show
He just said if two blokes are going for a 50/50 ball, and it gets to a point where contact is inevitable. One player turns their body to brace and protect themself and the other goes in head first, which behaviour do you wanna change to prevent injury?

He went with something similar on the midweek rub. Basically that Rioli goes for the mark, then midair braces for contact which is what any human on earth would do. It's impossible for him to avoid bracing mid air because he's thinking about the repercussions of a suspension.

Why would the AFL get rid of the tribunal? Good way to have players taking their supensions to court as they did before the appeals board was set up. If the AFL want a particular outcome they can just change the rules.

I actually don’t care Rioli didn’t get suspended but it’s an extremely bad miss by the umpire.
Yeah should have been a free kick in the game, was no stop in play

I honestly think the industry loves that the tribunal is media fuel for slow news weeks like round 1.
Yeah easy fodder for outrage articles. There was plenty to write about with Bevo/Morris and some of the results, but whinging about rules and suspensions just hits different.

Actually explain how you can think that's front on against Rioli? Because if you think it is then it's also a front on free kick against Rowell.

Rowell is coming from the same angle as Joel Smith with the ball going over their heads. Or are we punishung the blokes who jump higher.

Hit Rowell above the shoulder its a pretty clear high infringement.

If it wasn't a realistic attempt its already a free regardless where the knee goes. You can still give away a FK in footy without any malice in what you did which is what I think Rioli did.
Yeah but there's not a free kick there. 2 guys collided going for a mark. It shouldn't be a free because Rowell got hurt that's just silly.
